Lipan, i bought my GTI second hand as is for $25,500 drive away. It only has 24,000kms on the clock and has the leather pack and has been APR chipped. best $25K ever spent!

after my purchase i've looked around to see if there was anything as good for the same money, just incase.... and came up with nothing.

you would be a very smart person to go with the Polo GTI, i've had mine for a couple of months now and i still can't get a smile off my face.

Thank you very much for your comment mate. Appreciate it. This forum is really tops and everyone here has been supportive and helpful. Not to say I'm really envious of you all...

I was speaking to work colleagues today and they said to me to wait mid year the shop then. I asked the question about "auto" vs. "stick" and pretty much most of the ppl at work drive a manual. I was given one comment which was: "the stick makes you feel like your driving a car - makes you feel like your the MAN". I thought that comment was just tops. My dad did suggest today I spend a bit more dosh to get a Jetta...But yes somehow I'm still very much drawn back to the Polo GTI. It's just has this allure factor - I really don't know why I like it so much...It's just a really really nicely grooved vehicle...ITSA NICE!

The 2008 GTI is expected in Australia in late March. I bought my GTI 3 weeks ago now, couldn't wait for the new model (mine's plated 12/07) (black, 17s and leather)

Did you get your 17's from VW. i really wanted the 17" R-Lines but i was told all 17" vw wheels were discontinued from vw and no longer available?

LIPAN - I've only had my Polo for 3 weeks now, and every time i walk down to the garage and see it, i love it. every time i get in it and start driving, i smile.

A very good friend of mine upgraded from a basic impreza to a forrester GT with the luxury pack and he said the difference is, when you get car that has everything you want, you never fall out of love with your car. I got the polo in the colour i wanted (black), with leather and sunroof, both of which i wanted, and i wouldnt change a thing asthetically. although i have mentioned the 17" wheels above, i actually really like the stock wheels now anyways.

as a new polo buyer, i couldnt recommend a better car. i think you'll be over the moon with it.

As far as I know. Everyone except the guy I was talking to didn't have a clue what Exor wheels were, kept trying to correct me saying 'Exis' (the crappy looking Golf option). I had all 3 as an option, maybe they had them in stock?
