There is a HUGE difference between a XR4 and a chipped GTI .... 6.5s vs 9s 0-100km/h and it does not end there; the gap just keep on growing ....

Even a stock GTI feels (and looks) like somebody replaced the 1.8t with a 1.4 compared to a chipped GTI.

Every one of the 38% extra ponies makes themselves felt in a big way.

The XR4 is much faster then 9s to 100. Try high 7s/low 8s.

From a third gear roll (where its not hampered by torque flags of 1st & 2nd), my mate's XR4 with intake (intake adds 11kW, the stock one is shocking), against a chipped Polo GTI and a Megane Sport 225, the XR4 drops back about 1.5 car lengths and stays that way until the speeds get idiotic. Not quite the difference you're making out.

Its only slow 0-100km/h because it happens in first & second which have torque flags (2nd at redline is like 101km/h). Once you hit third its faster then alot of things, as VT SS 5.0 and Liberty 2.0 GT Turbo drivers can attest to.

Though about being slower then a 16v Mk2 GTI...

It seems to dominate the crap out of it there, no?

its slow to 100kmph because it only has 110kw and 190nm
no way that beats a VTSS (180kw/400nm) above 2nd gear (100+kmph)

Yeah but a Mitsubishi colt is faster than an E30 M3/Intergrale around Anglesey chassis dynamics/bigger tyres have helped certainly.

    The Ford XR4 is rubbish!

If a car company is going to spend money on something that handles well, make sure it has enough power to make the handling abilities actually useful. Also, it features a cheaply made interior that is but ugly and a bodykit/styling that makes you want ambulance tint so noone will see you driving it.

I took one for a test drive and was utterly disappointed, i cut my test drive short as i couldn't stand it any longer. It was so laggy off the line and out of corners...not to mention i felt so gay i was actually feeling around inside my girlfriends handbag for some lip gloss.

For $24,990 it is a complete rip off. If i wanted something that looked good and handled extremely well, i would have stayed in my Peugeot 206 GTi for half the price, which happened to be quicker!

These days you can get a 206 GTi 180 (130kW) for similar sort of money to the Ford XR4 and the interior and styling is far superior, and it will rip it to shreds on a track.

styling is subjective. I think the current fiesta is a very nice looking car. In fact much better looking than a polo. But thats just an opinion.

I agree that the car isnt that quick. But comparing it to a peugeot 206GTi is crazy. Thats a $35,000 car. Of course the quality of the interior is going to be better and the engine will have more more. its worth 10k more!
You cant just go and pick any second hand car of a similar value and compare it to the new price of a current model. Ill take a Porsche 944 Turbo. for 20 - 25k Ill be quicker than all of you.
