drive it normaly and it will be ok.
drive it hard everynow and then it will be ok...
if you start hearing noises from the gearbox take it to VW.
After reading on this forum about the gearbox problem i think if a dsg gti came out i would buy it and sell my car. I have done 5690km and its a early 2006 i thought vw was as reliable as a jap car in the drivetrain i dont use it every week but once a month i give it a run. I dont change real fast 1st to 2nd and not at over 4500. Will full load in 1st or 2nd under full throttle but not slamming the change break the gear box ?Does any oils help or fix problem?

In 2nd i can just hear a sound as the revs rise hard for others to notice in the car sort of like the sound you get in reverse just less of it is it all down hill from here .With a chip and some fast changes sounds like from reading about blown boxes you can destroy em in no time.
That's a bit extreme - how much time left on your warranty?
If there really is an audible sound that is unusual, take it to the dealer, tell them you are on a VW forum and you are very, very aware of the issues with GTI gearboxes (so they don't b******t you and fob you off as they will) and make it clear you want it checked out and you won't go away.
Don't think that strategy will work, highly unlikely VW will bring out a DSG for the Polo GTI and the cost would be prohibitive if they did. Two choices here, take it back to VW dealer to be checked out and fixed or if you fear the transmission will be a problem long term, trade it in now on a Golf GTI with DSG.

The DSG is far from troublefree. Even on this forum there is a number of guys having issues (some major ones as well) with their DSG boxes. Also, replacing a DSG box out of warranty will cost more than $16000 whereas a GTI manual box will be about $4000.

I wouldn't enjoy owning a car I drove only every two months, unless it was a Veyron!
The gear changes for me are pretty much silent since they did the gearbox oil recall. Have you checked if your car fell under the recall? If you are hearing noises, take it to the dealer.
