Big bucks in that idea. technically i guess, it would be possible using a r32 or mark 1 a3 audi or similar but evan this would require major work. in the end it would be probbaly cheaper to get your self a second hand mark 1 audi a3 quatro, which is very similar to what you want to do here, 1.8t engine awd and a stronger chasis, and if your into name brands the audi badge.

I am sure if you have the coil you could import one.
Converting a normal GTI to AWD would be a nightmear would need a new floor pan for the drive shaft tunnel, rear suspension, AWD gear box ect.
    Cheers Rob.

Just for the sake of curiosity, would it be easier to convert the Polo GTI to a RWD?

I think 4WD benefits have been somewhat non feasible when properlly set up FWD like FD Civic R can corners just as good as RAR spec-ed scubby

They were setting up for racing right from the drawing board where polos are just cars designed to use little fuel. So weight balance of the isn't like a type r I think have better luck getting it all wheel drive over rear wheel. But yeah I know it would be lot of work n expensive, just seen coupe versions of lancers with evo running gear n awd setup wondering if been done with a polo n the r32 running gear.

He He He I was just wondering about that earlier today. Would be great if it could be done with not too much coin. Otherwise I'd leave it and just have a good laugh and enjoy the lil pogo for what it is.

Well converting to AWD is easy if you just cut the floor out of your boot and stick a second 1.8T in there. In my mind, this is somewhat easier than getting an AWD box, prop shaft etc. All you need to do is splice the clutch, throttle, gear shift etc and its all good.
