A few things I have noticed the R1 do very well is that it holds boost a lot better through out the rev range and when you take your foot off during gear changes the air is routed to the turbo which keeps it spinning and it virtually eliminates turbo lag completely. The effect it has far surpasses anything I could imagine it would and it still takes me by supprise. It speeds up accelerating immensely and smoothes it out. The other thing I have noticed is that boost seems to come in around 1500RPM instead of the 1950-2000RPM stock range. Next to the K&N panel filter I reckon its probably the next best performance mod.

Mate, not sure what you mean about a boost controller. They are designed for this, I'm talking about something you get from Bunnings as per the original post. I totally agree a boost controller which has an actuator attached to a valve will hold the ball or gate in a desired position, if you have a free handle, its free to do whatever it wants. Do you really want to be driving along and have the valve vibrate open of its own accord?
    Hi,,

the valve per the picture I posted is not from bunnings.. Its for compressors and its built to withstand 130psi... I dont think owe little turbos will worry the valve much at all.. Its not flimsy like you think..

Worst case, the pressure can only push the valve open which just makes it like stock...

I think it has merit.. I tried it on my car and no surge at all.. Is it safe?? thats another story..

Yea its good you are aware of this, that was what I was getting at. It might be fine for X days/months, but eventually you will need to look at it again in the future. That's why I suggested a restrictor because its set and forget, its what you're happy with.

I fully closed the valve and all the boost disappears... if I half close the valve all is ok but the difference isnt great..

    How can the boost disappear...
