There seems to be a large majority of people who don't care if the Polo has the displacement badge on it and only 1 person who does. This person has since rectified the issue and now feels much better about himself. Lets leave it there and move on!!!!!!!
    Cheers,

Is that an M1 Abrams ?

I think Petrina will like the engine out of that : 1500 hp (1119 kW) Honeywell AGT 1500 gas turbine.

However, he'd still need to put a badge on it though in case people didn't realise it had a BIG engine.

[QUOTE=FL00DY;362904]You're an idiot, I mean the top of the line models in their categories, ie. someone who is looking at an A8 isn't going to be considering a Polo. Of course an A8 is a bigger, more powerful car and costs more, does that make it a better car? QUOTE]

YES absolutely its a better car. There goes your swiss cheese theory about only the best top of the line models not having displacement badges on them.

So genius, why do some cars have displacement badges on them? doesnt the owner know whats under the hood? Do other drivers second guess if they have the grunt to overtake you? Does he say 1.6, I should be able to get him up hill?

Why do cars have badged period?

    Wow.

Petrina, I think you should have your own thread, kind of like what Plautos has been doing with the 'meet my polo' thread.

That way we can keep your whimsical comments and other people bashing you in a single concise thread.

If it goes the way i think it will, it would later be moved to the humor section.

You aren't getting the point. Audi A8 RANGE, VW Polo RANGE. The Audi S8 is the top of the line in the A8 RANGE, Polo GTI is the top of the line in the Polo RANGE.

Why do cars have badged period? Because of show off idiots like yourself. You didn't answer my question "... when you spec'd your Polo GTI (not sure if you bought new or not) did you get a choice to have a 2.0T?"

I thought you guys learnt from my mistake -- don't feed the troll. He's having a good laugh getting us all worked up. Nothing you say is going to convince him either way.

The Polo GTI doesn't come with a 1.8T badge because it's a girls car. VW knew that only girls would buy this car and they know that girls don't care about engine size, but rather how cute they look. They put an extra large VW badge on the grill because it looks like the car has a nose! OMG HOW CUTE IS THAT?! ^_^

I can understand why you feel so insecure having bought this car. But don't worry, I'm sure the 1.8T badge you've put on it now will show everyone that you're not a woman.

Possibly so that when you go to a dealer to buy a car you can tell exactly what you are getting rather than guessing or having to look through the logbook.

Possibly so that when you have an accident, other people can identify the exact type of car that you have to make the claim.

Possibly so that the insurance company can note what model car you have for insurance purposes.

As said before, the top of the range models (GTI, RS#, R#) don't have a displacement badge as they are the top of the line and their other badges represent that. A displacement badge is not needed for these.
