Who has done a brake upgrade ?

I've recently found a set of TT front brakes, planning to put it onto the GTI.

I have 312mm slotted discs, carriers and calipers.

Has anebody done this before? Also, will it fit with the existing 16" wheels or will I have to go to 17"s?

I've done this, as have a few others. Should (more or less) bolt on and will fit under 16"s

Is it possible to put the front brakes on the rear if you do this? How's the handbrake fit in?

    Wink

Sharkie , please check the PR numbers on your white sticker in your service book or in the boot floor of your Polo. The number you want to see on there are as follows - 1LN OR 1ZD OR 1ZH OR 1LJ. This means your brakes are C54 or FN3. These are what you are after as the TT brakes are FN3 having 54mm piston diameter. If you have 1LM or 1ZN then you have FS2 brakes and they have 48mm piston. Even have have a look at your calipers and if they have FN3 then you are good to go. The strut housings are the same as the TT has FN3. Check these numbers as there are still some FS2 brakes out there.
PM me if you have any dramas.
