Smile what tire or tyre pressure ?

HI all can other gti polo owners tell me is it better to have 40 psi or 35 psi 40 seems to give a firm ride will the higher pressure make my tires last longer? My car has the original tires.

You are probably better off running between 32 to 38PSI in your tyres COLD. Don't run around on your tyres then check the pressure. the heat that has built up in your tyres through running on them will give you a false reading, and you can tend to over inflate your tyres causing too much wear in the center of the tread.

The recommended on the plaquard is too low. Run between 38 and 40 for the best handling.

The difference in tread wear from 35-40 is minimal.

I found running at 40psi dead cold has got me over 52000km on stock tyres.

IIRC that's what is recommended inside the fuel cap.

You sure about that? I did the conversion from BAr to PSI and it was more like 38/35

The recommended pressure is for COMFORT, not HANDLING.

Use 38-40ish for handling. Wear shouldn't be much different.
