What is this noise!?! (Video attached)

Hey all,
This noise has been plaguing me on and off for about a year.
You can hear it toward the end of the crappy video I took and is a ticking/grinding noise that occurs whenever the car is rolling. Doesnt matter if its in gear or not or if I am using the brakes it still occurs.
It gets worse if I turn to the Right and is proportional to the speed of the car.
I took it to VW once and they put it down to "brakes rubbing" but it is still annoying me.
It sounds like maybe my right CV/wheel bearing is stuffed ?
Its a 2006 model with <40 000k's. I have had both control arm bushes changed to the better ones (thanks jmac) and also the APR dogbone engine mount installed.

You can hear it clearly at about 20 secs




Any thoughts/knowledge greatly appreciated!

Interesting. I'm not good at this so lets wait for someone with some experience...

As a guestimate I'd say its to do with the driveshaft rotation, CV not likely as they tend to be noisy turning but fine in a straight line. It does not stop when you are applying brakes?

Yeah it doesnt change if the brakes are applied or not...

Have you jacked up front right, put in neutral and spun the wheel to see if you still get it? might be easier to locate up close.

Crap that VW could not determine, the issue.

any signs of scuff marks on the wheel arch liners? mine did that till i trimmed them back now its all good

I had the exact same noise and no one was able to diagnose or get rid of it. Whenever I took it to VW they couldn't replicate the noise. So they weren't able to do anything about it..

It eventually just went away. Was really odd..

Btw mine was right side too..

I had a similar noise in my car, but more of a metlic whining noise at low speeds, took it to vw and they put it down to one of the bolts being loose on the rear right brake, appears they sprayed it with lithium grease to.
Drove it home and by the next morning the noise was back again, amazingly it has gone away now, but i hear it on cold mornings sometimes

Check the stone guard on the brake discs. If they get something stuck in them or bent they can rub the discs.

Yes, the problem could be there... also check the brake pads... there are some clips inside the calipers… they hold the brake pads and if they are bent or bad positioned they will scratch the rotor.
The wheel’s bolts are stock? If they are longer, they could be scratching the strut behind the hub.
