It disables the motion detection sensors of the alarm - so the alarm wont start if you close the car and you have your dog in it for example)
Anybody know what the button on the side of the plastic trim behind the drivers seat at about knee level does. Looks like it is for proximity type of switch but can't find it in the manual at all?

Hahah yeh I didn't notice this button for a couple of months until my friends jumped in the back and kept randomly pressing it asking if we were going to crash >.> but yeh. Found it was motion detector and still haven't used it =\
Now you can safely lock your child/pet with the windows up in 40 degree heat without having the alarm go off! VW thought of everything![]()
ooo nice! we have the problem with the dog in the passat all the time.
he stays on the floor, but still must move around enough to set it off. will be seeing if ours has one of the buttons tonight
you have to press that button every time you lock the car, as when you unlock the car it automatically turns the motion sensors back on next time the car is locked, think its for insurance reasons............vwtech
Isnt that the switch for when you tow your car, so the alarm doesnt go off when the car is pulled up... also motion sensors. =D

If you don't have that button - you can just press the lock button on your remote twice - and this will lock the car but will live the alarm disarmed.ooo nice! we have the problem with the dog in the passat all the time.

Really? I know lots of people who will press the lock button multiple times... just to be sure. Or is it a "double press" in a certain time rather than just two presses?
As for the motion disably button... We knew it was there but didn't think we actually had an alarm... until it went off for the first time.
