What do you guys think about this GTI?

I'd still rather be in a golf with 19's than any polo. The Polo is a car was developed to fill a market segment, nothing else.

The polo isn't much better, the last real GTI was the mk2 16v, even I hate to admit that.

The Polo GTI was never designed to even be in the same league as a the Golf, you can't treat it like it is.

no it wasn't designed to but it seemed to slide right into that spot. think what you want of jeremy clarksons reviews but even he said the Polo GTI is the true successor of the old Golf GTI. he says the mk4/mk5 GTI's are just a fat Polo.

C'mon now.. Every GTI made by VW has just been a shopping trolly hatchback with a bigger motor, stiffer springs and fatter tyres bolted on. Lets not get into design philosophy here

you are very correct there houso, it was, but then evolution took over and the GTI was made.

how did Clarkson describe the current Polo GTI? .."the spiritual sucessor to the original Golf GTI". think he meant it wasn't bloated, slow and universally dismissed as the 'non-GTI' - the mk4 GTI. yep, piece of motoring history, even a set of 19" rims won't rectify that.

the 306 left it for dead in that vid, the best Clarkson could say about the mk4 was it was 'practical' - how exciting!
