The only worthwhile upgrade in the 3 is the included wifi and the Black version has the super high resolution capture (4k Resolution but only 5FPS)
If this is for personal use, there is no need for 4k resolution and even then it is only useful for slow panning shots.
I set mine up without the wifi active last time and it captured perfectly so the upgrade to 3 isn't essential and you get basically the same functionality in the 2 but quite cheap thanks to our throwaway society.
I got the hero2 for $250 delivered with 32gb SD card as the motorsport pack. The best price for a 3 with 32gb card was $370 odd from Kogan. The wifi of the hero3 is almost sufficient justification for the extra, though for the right price I was prepared to go without it initially, plus knowing it can be added. But if going the silver hero3, why not go the Black edition... which get's very expensive for such a limited use piece of kit. Other than wifi and the smaller body, the 2 and 3 are identical image processors. The 3 has better audio from my research, though when strapped to the car, kayak or mountain bike, it's not a relevant consideration.
Was a close judgment call and wouldn't have paid any more than that for the hero2, though couldn't decide whether to go hero3 silver or go straight to Black edition, so the $250 is half price of the black, which feels reasonable.

Since I was painting the THS intercooler pipes black, I also painted the front strut bar and rear sway bar, plus my HKS blowoff black.
As I had a little black left over and it was going to waste I touched up the exhaust pipe where it looked so so, now it is nice and black again.
Why so much black, want the stealth look. I do not too much attention from QT Inspectors.
The transit lane inbound from Beenleigh Road intersection of Mains Road frequently has QT Inspections. They set a Camcorder on a tripod and view the traffic remotely, then pull up suspects in a side street, then give them a going over.
They do similar random inspections near my place on Calam Road, even pull the suspects into our street to do them a favour so to speak! Not!
Cheers Al

I finally got around to having the front lower brace fitted at Brakes Plus. They couldn't fit it as the bolts don't line up. Apparently one of the back bolts is about 3-5mm out from allowing the brace to fit. Damn.
Had the rear rotors and pads fitted, front rotors machined and brake and engine oil flushed too. My front remsa pads are apparently stuffed, I've well overcooked em on the track days so even though there is good life left in em, need to change. Really not surprised by that feedback. I'm now considering running 2 sets of pads, one for street and another for track. Will get some A1RM's or similar for track.
Which has also led me to noticing my tyres are a few months from replacing to... does it ever stop. So again, perhaps its time to get track rims and appropriate tyres.

Was that the same one that I couldn't get to gone on Anthony's car, yet it fitted perfect on mine? Then the replacement went straight on? WTF.
What I did to my car today, will be starting in 10 minutes with me driving back to where it broke and trying to get it started again..........

Not a great idea as the pads rely on transfer of material to the rotor to give the optimal performance (hence the need to properly bed in new pads) and the different pads will not coat the rotor surfaces with the correct material for each other. Greg at GSL RallySport can give you the full low down on this.
I will add that the A1RMs are fantastic on track and still give decent bite when cold but they squeal like mad if not bedded in properly and need rebedding every now and then if used mainly on road. Again, Greg can give you the full low down on this.
Easily the best way to go - if you haven't gone down the jumbo brakes path, try and get a set of 15" rims as the semi-slicks have very stiff sidewalls so low profile gives little or no improvement and adds greatly to the cost.
