Fitted front brakes... "crunching/scraping" noise still there.... Closer inspection... Looks like Driveshaft/CV's possibly... fml

Anyone familar with this being a common issue? or is it just the extra torque from the tune causing them to give up early? (which i would expect anyway)

Does it happen when you transition on/off throttle like the clunk on my TDi?

Charged my battery. Switched to Motorsport remap.

Did you manage to measure them? Sorry I didn't postback last night.
Why didn't you get the SEAT style solid bushes for the rear

It had to be done, but my pocket will be bleeding for quite some time
Ah, good to know, thanks. Did you have to send them your gearbox mount like their website states? Also, how harsh are they? w/ and w/out the air-con on.

    Sorry for the pestering questions!

Nah, no clunks. Just a scraping noise.

When going straight (only at a low speed, say around 30-40km/h), its faint, but a noticable noise, like something scraping. Thought it was the old brakes because they were rooted, but after changing them last night, and also further testing (can still hear the noise when the brakes are applied) the noise still exists.

When I turn right (putting pressure on the left side of the car), the noise just about goes away.
When I turn left (pressure on the right side), the noise gets louder.

On the upside, at least the thing stops on a dime again

Just have to figure out wtf this noise is so I know what im up for so I can order parts etc. Put the car up on stands and checking to see if it was wheel bearings, there is no play in the wheel, and it spins freely on the right hand side. But on the left hand side, there seems to be a faint noise coming from the driveshaft area when free spinning the wheel on the left hand side, but no play in the wheel.

Got the timing belt, water pump and front right outer CV boot replaced thanks to the great guys at Canberra VW Center today. Also got a full scan and throttle body alignment done too. Cheers guys.

You know your Polo used to be like that aside from the slushbox? Bring the micra out for some Reefton runs.

ahh man, you know these things - probably a couple of grand or so - THANKFULLY, just like the 1.8t trans, the 1.9tdi is reasonably well supported overseas, so i've made an enquiry with darkside developments in the uk - shouldnt be TOO exxy - of course, the labor's gonna be like 3 times the cost of the part, haha.

greg, i dont by any means drive a ''hard core'' car, and yet im actually struggling to think when my car was actually pleasant to drive....

the springs didnt help things, neither did the engine mount, the coilies nada, the bushes blah blah blah...

all i can think when i drive the micra is "i dont give two farts if this thing is unbalanced because it's got two 75kg people sitting in the driver seat, this thing is the PERFECT city a-b car!"

and no, it's not going over reefton. because, and if i can convince my mom that running an engine hard is GOOD for it, as opposed to the old days when you're meant to baby the baby baby baby doo doos out of it for 20,000km's, i'll be joining in her new megane (mid next week pick up).

AND NO, ITS NOT THE RS, HAHA.
