modding the stock airbox so it can be removed with the strut brace in place. Summer is coming, so I think I'll move away from the POD filter setup until I can finish it or it gets cold again.

thanks, ordered them transparent red to match my car color. the pedal feels much firmer on braking, and you really feel the brake biting sooner from the pedal if that makes any sense. i also flushed the old brake fluid and put in pentosin racing brake fluid.

sorry mate, i didn't take any pics of the rear ones, but yes; initially i too thought i was duped or something when i saw that the rear calipers also have banjo fittings connecting to a hard line, totally not going to fit with the HEL supplied lines.

but actually the hoses to be replaced are not connected to the rear calipers. the two short hoses are located under the rear subframe, right under the fuel tank (left side is easy, right side you'll need an angled spanner to reach one of the fittings). you'll see what i mean when you hoist the car up and look under the rear subframe. the rear hoses are connected to the hardline that you see going to the calipers. the other end of the hose connects to the brake hard line on the car body. dang, should have taken pics, i hope my description is clear enough.

Headlight restoration. My driver's side was heavily pitted so i rubbed back with some wet and dry to smooth it a bit, then used the turtle wax headlight restoration kit. Came up a treat. Could use a machine buffer for the final polish to make it even better. I'm happy with the results and a $30 kit is cheaper than a new headlight. No before/after pics though.

I dropped this into the new Polo section, but thought it made sense to put it in here for what I did yesterday...

Yesterday I removed my custom POD filter and shield setup, cleaned my MAF, and re-installed the original airbox I'd modified so it didn't clash with the front strut brace making cleaning the filter a total pain. Re-oiled the flat filter, reset the ECU, increased my ignition timing. checked my tyre pressure, I could tell it had dropped by a few PSI. I took one of the shims out of my Forge 008 diverter, I'm getting used to the noise. I think the yellow tension spring with 1 shim is holding enough boost, but I'm yet to do any logging.

Gave the car a good clean. Washed, clay bar, meguirs paint cleaner and finished with meguirs wet look. Has come up much better, paint feels fantastic now, nice shine - though as per murphy's law, Brisbane has a week of rain forecast. Though I've polished it reasonably often and always keep it pretty clean, I hadn't done a claybar on this car. The paint was much smoother than I was expecting when clarbarring. Waiting for the sun to come out to appreciate it.

I didn't do any befores, and the car hasn't left the garage for afters. Should have some photos this coming weekend from the lakeside track session thingy. Fingers crossed for no rain.
