Why? The old section really flows and is great for small cars (yes the new section is boring but it lets the guys with horsepower open up).
I could only just break 1:55, yesterday. - by far the slowest VW there

Filled up when I got back and put 55 litres in - I'm thinking I was close to running out...

Just never been a fan of it, it doesn't have enough elevation changes, it really is just like QR but with more left hand corners.

So what causes glazed rotors? Is it the pads? Cos mine are pretty shatty - actually quite awful and scorched from half a dozen track days. As Eddy has found, the braking capacity is sufficient for quite an increase in power when supported with appropriate pads.

Lakeside is a fun little circuit, but must be respected. I was running 66's in the stock gti (only H&R lowered springs) on my first outing there, but the lack of suspension compliance made the dogleg with mid corner bump on the straight a butt clencher every time. Had to leave room for error as a lancer GSR shoot off in to the wall there. Let me know when you hit the track and if time permits would love to join.

Are you running with slotted rotors?? The slots, as well as helping with heat dissipation, also help with preventing glazing too...

she's all factory braking at present (pads and rotors).

Long and short is heat and the inability to deal with that heat. I'm in a Polo TDI so I only have the 256mm Brakes. I didn't get any brake fade as I was using good Pads and fluid but If it was 5 laps straight flat out they would of been killed I guess.

Power isn't my issue, I just brake late and hard (have to make up for having a slow diesel somehow)

Will do, not sure when that will be, hopefully after I fit camber tops.

That's my beef with the new section (along with the same radius & width 90 degree bends that link it up.
But the camber and radius variation in the old section, along with the small rise and fall between the esses and the sweeper make it quite entertaining in my book.

    Glazed pads or rotors?
Greg from GSLRallysports told me that pads can glaze when used with rotors that have been used with different pads due to material pickup.

On a side note, yeaterday, I found that I had to put my rear seats back in to keep the car stable when braking really hard , else the rear wanted to overtake the front. I suspect my B12 springs are a bit hard and causing the suspension to top out in this instance

Glazed rotors and they are the only pads to ever be on with that set of discs. really, don't have one pad sticking a little more? I have nothing (I mean nothing in the back of mine and it doesn't do that)

The pads aren't sticking - the car gets VERY unstable and wants to turn in either direction when really hauling on the brakes.
The OEM tyres could well have something to do with it (UTQG rating of 240).

I had no problem at all with braking power but the pedal did get soft after a few laps (was too busy to count)

Glazed my rotors on both track days. Too much heat...
