What did they replace?

Mine's always been a bit whiny.

Bearings last time. Main shaft, First gear, and more bearings this time. Still feels exactly the same.

Piss poor effort, especially after just 66,000kms.

Oh, and by the way. Shocks wil last 60,000kms until they're not doing their job anymore. More than that and you're kidding yourself....

It all depends on how hard they're worked - fully on competition rally driving would kill them in less than 5000km. That's why those guys use fully rebuildable dampers (with adjustment to allow for the wear before they get totally stuffed).

Personally:
Ordered my front spring distance kit.
Did a genuine sub 4l / 100km along Beach Rd from Moorabbin => Port Melbourne with medium traffic - stick that up ya hybrid a$$, Prius

I've got 90k kms out of my stock struts and they are still working fine. I have had Weitec springs since 13k kms. I have replaced my strut top bearings though, but my shocks still work quite well.
I think my front sway bar rubbers are on their way out though.

Im running Eibach springs. Had them in for roughly 50,000 km and had no problems

And jesum killed his within 25,000 km when using aftermarket springs but the paved roads in Malaysia are a lot bumpier than the ones here (well, maybe not those in Nth Qld now).

It's all about how hard they're worked and stiffer springs will work them harder so all other things being equal, aftermarket springs will cause the dampers to wear out more quickly than the standard ones.
Combine aftermarket springs, bad roads and driving like a maniac all the time and you will get very short life from the dampers. Drive like a little old lady on good roads with stock springs and the dampers will last well over 100,000 km.

It's also about what people deem is satisfactory or stuffed. I could feel mine were not well after 10 thou k's with the H&R springs, they didn't dampen nearly enough when coupled with the Short coils.

If I was on nice roads all the time I probably would have kept them, but they didn't soak up Sydney roads. Some of the MK6 guys are breaking rims on the NT roads, new suspension has come a long way to take that punishment to the rims and still be comfortable and low

My polo has 95,000k's on it now on totally stock suspension. It still feels fine, but now that I think about it probably can't really remember what it was like new. Not too keen on stiffening it up too much, but I'd have to at least consider a set of matched springs/ shocks with a bit of a drop when I get around to replacing the dampers.

Funnily enough, by using stiffer springs with OEM dampers, you are making the dampers closer to being stuffed from the outset, even before the accelerated wear, since you will be reducing the damping ratio by increasing the spring rate. So if you are performance rather than comfort, orientated, you are going backwards as far as wheel control is concerned, since fitting stiffer springs will immediately reduce performance and increase comfort from a damping perspective. The only gains are reduced body roll and lower center of gravity (assuming the stiffer springs are also shorter as they always are).

Due to the damage from the flood/rain/cyclones, Nth Queensland is also experiencing this. But I doubt it's very comfortable when this happens and the drivers are probably just putting up with the discomfort in the bad stretches.

Man.. The number of people i know that have been shipped the wrong or no hardware kit with their whiteline bars is amazing. You would have thought they would have done something about it years ago
