So after refurbing the Audi brakes over the weekend (a big job for my limited tools and experience), I'm proud to say that my brakes now make no noise when I'm on the pedal or off! The work was completed today by attaching one of the clips on the back of the pad after one of the ones on my QFM pads didn't sit correctly in the piston.

The brake overhaul was particularly difficult as the piston in both Calipers was stuck. This was the reason they were noisy and braking was minorly impared. Once the pistons were out, you could see some scoring on both, in different places, one of them was worn on the back corner through the top plating.

With the new bushes (from US ebay in the end), the calipers move with ease. Fairly generic Castrol brake fluid all around, replacing my expensive Martini brake fluid, bled as per JMac's and the manuals spec (Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left, Rear Right) and the pedal is firm.

Have to say, its the quietest my car has been since a bunch of work was done in December, I've been getting it right since then and I now feel like my car is what is should be...

Well, minus a wash and wax.

Props again to Vortex and the many clever DIY's and infinite useless posts and poor information. Many hours of reading to get prepared and to a level where I felt comfortable taking this on given the possible ramifications of getting it wrong...

Props to those doing real mechanical work, I'm just playing by comparison...

Just the other day, after playing around with boost for a few weeks, I felt the same thing.
This is how the car should drive, brakes suspension power and looks, finally happy for a while

interesting what polo peeps are doing and results from people to be honest..

regarding noones comments, they are VW brakes, NOT audi. they are TT/337/Anniversary Carriers "Vag" part with gti calipers which are used even to this day on the mk5/mk6s on a 312mm oem setup. using oem pads and rotors makes a difference as well.

interesting to see what few guys will get the few dyno days coming up around australia from mods they have done as everyone has been going in so many different directions with so many odd results (such as torque etc). just interesting after playing so much with the 1.8ts and seeing what people are still doing with results lol! 2.0tq is very very different!

i think everyone so keen to get coilovers forget to realise that other then height adjustable if you got decent springs (bilstein, eibach, h&r etc) and a good set of damping adjustable shocks (koni whatever) you will have the exact same feel and setup as you would from a variant 1 or 2 setup. saying that im not saying coilovers are **** as they are fantastic but i think some newbees get the impression you "MUST" have coilovers or thats it! lol.

The dollar is good now though! time to buy parts!

keen to see ryan's porsche wheels on! wtf tyre size you gonna run man! will be nuts lol .. you should of went 17s dude!

Haha... I'm looking at either 225/40 18's or 215/35 18s. I just bought a a cupra lip too... I'm also looking at a set of AP coilovers too...
I'd be keen to know what you guys think of what tyre size I should get... I already have 17's on the car now, but I have wanted twists for years!!

Found a bit of time and fitted the KW Kit to the rear. Fitted them without the adjuster. The ride is firmer but its all good. Next step to fit the fronts but then i;ll need to get it corner weighted.... and then theres the clutch kit
