    I have a Forge intercooler sitting here awaiting an install in my VXR Astra along with a few other upgrades.

    Not sure if I can get away with any mods on the Polo as it is my company car.
    Would be nice though as I can feel the car has potential already.
    Definately needs to sit a bit lower !

    APR's stage 2 is based around the K04. If you want to go for a stage 2, need to look at other tunes.

    No it's not. Stage II for APR is "downpipe" plus another software update. They recommend full turbo-back exhaust, air-intake, and intercooler (though this varies from car to car).

    Stage 3, just like any other car's stage 3 upgrade, is where you replace the turbo. In the Polo's case, to a K04.

    Huh? Are you thinking about the Golf?

    There are 2 options for the Polo with stock turbo, V1 and V2. They are both stage 1 Tunes, differ in their delivery, but both are designed for a stock car.

    No, I'm talking about the Polo, and the link I provided was for the Polo and confirms my comments.

    To expand on what you said.
    There are two options for the Polo with stock turbo. Stage 1 V1 and Stage 1 V2. These are different VERSIONS, not different stages!
    Stage 2 is, as I said, a different ECU flash software combined with at least a downpipe.
    Stage 3 is with the K04 Turbo upgrade.

    As I said, this is all confirmed on the link to the APR website in my previous post

    I get what you are saying, but can not see anything on a stage 2 tune. the link you've provided does not take me to anything that talks about a stage 2 tune and the requirements. Where in the Polo page does it talk about Stage 2?

    I've talked to Derek from Euro Auto and Guy from APR about APR options and was not aware of any further options for std. Turbo

    ECU Upgrades - Stage I
    VW Polo GTI 1.8T ECU Upgrade

    Engine Performance - Stage II
    Polo GTI 9N Full Exhaust

    Turbo Systems - Stage III
    1.8T K04 Turbo Upgrade


    I'm not really sure how it can be much clearer than that!
    But also, if you go into the Exhaust link, there is this text:
    Due to the high flow catalyst, you need to run appropriate software for this modification. This is included with all APR software, and is available as a free upgrade to all existing APR software customers.
    It is this software talked about in the exhaust link which is the Stage II ECU.

    So to go back to your comment before, was I thinking of the Golf, no. But the Golf and all other cars have the same 'stages' of upgrades. ECU, Exhausts/Intakes (Engine Performance), Turbo. If you look around the APR site, Stage II ECU's are not list as a separate product item for any of the cars, they are always packaged with the downpipe or the full exhaust.

    I'm finding this very confusing.

    There is no mention of any options in the Tuning page. The only variations is how many codes are available.

    The Map change for the exhaust is to work with the different exhaust readings with the hi-flow cat. I don't know if there is any change to the map or just the temp sensor settings so it works properly without throwing a code. There is no mention of this chip being stage 2.

    Have a look at this thread where I asked if APR do a tune above the Stage 1 V2, Guy's comment is pretty clear.

    Have you seen something to give you the impression that the code for the exhuast is a stage 2 or gives any real difference to the stage 1 map? On the German site there is a 10PS (7kw) difference between the normal code and the Downpipe / hiflow code. This I would expect is due to the change in flow, not a change in mapping.

    Yes, I'm aware of those threads.

    And as I already said, APR never list 'Stage II ECU' as a separate upgrade.

    In the 1st thread you linked to where you asked Guy if there is any updates what what you have in your sig (your sig is different now, so I can't see specifically what was asked), he answered correct. The next BIG update is the turbo.

    In the 2nd thread you linked to, the comments there are correct too. Since the Polo is already providing enough fuel etc in the Stage I ECU, there is no significant changes in the software which gets applied along with the downpipe. So in relation to the Polo GTI, the 'Stage II ECU' is probably correctly just a marketting thing.

    But none of this changes the fact that as Guy stated, Stage II is ECU + Downpipe, and as the APR site says, Stage III is K04 Turbo for the Polo GTI.

    If that isn't correct, then APR need to start updating their website since as you can see, K04 Turbo upgrade is clearly in the Stage III list!
