Airbags didn't go off. I got a call from the assessment centre saying it was a write off, thats all i can go off. I did tell them i'd prefer it to be written off though, I wouldn't feel the same if it was repaired after seeing it like that and had ideas of a new car in the back of my mind anyway. Doesn't make me less sad about it though, I love(d) my car.

She's damaged regardless if they are able to fix it. Sorry to hear about it man, I'd be furious if that happened to me. As long as your ok and still kicking it's a positive. Hopefully the new Polo Gti isn't too far for you to consider if they are unable to revive your Pog.
    Current:
    2023 Mk2 Tiguan R - Lapiz Blue
    2015 Mk7 Golf R Wolfsburg - Limestone Grey: Stage 2
Gone but not forgotten: 2008 Polo GTI Shadow Blue

Yeah - there is no way I'd be buying another Polo GTI after seeing the next Polo model which is coming very soon. The new Polo is such a significant improvement in so many areas that I'd be worried about all our Polo's devaluing so quickly.

Only issue is that the next Polo GTI will not be here for quite some time

MK6 GTI sounds like a good option if you're in the situation to afford on of them. A 3dr manual GTI without any options (which would give you all the features of a Polo GTI plus some) could be had for just under $40k given a 10-12% discount which is quite possible with negotiation.

Not going to get another Polo GTI. I loved it, awesome fun especially once chipped, light on fuel, surprisingly flexible when you fold the seats down. But in the end it's a bit too small.

Golf GTI was first on my list but I think it's going to be a bit out of my price range (and I don't want a MKV). Especially as this time I want 5 doors and leather. It would be doable but a lot of money for me to commit on a car.

Currently thinking of jumping ship and going for a Subaru but definitely not WRX. Second hand Liberty GT or Forester XT. Forester wins on practicality, price and towing ability (i have a share in a boat), but i really like the Liberty. Especially the Charcoal one I saw on carsales with cream leather interior. Looks very upmarket (but cream interior and sedan not so good for the camping gear). Looks basically impossible to upgrade the head unit on the liberty too which i want to do since I ended up getting my head unit back this morning after all.

You won't regret the purchase of a Liberty or Forester, we have both in our house, the Liberty drives sooooo nicely (only the 2.5i), and has great handling for a non-sport model.

In regards to Polo's, I cleaned my brother's mate's GTI today, and holy crap he treats it so badly, was so filthy I spent an hour on the interior alone, with just a vacuum and spray cleaner. Looks much better now though.

Fitted a cat back exhaust on Friday - can't believe i didn't do this earlier!

Car sounds like a jet between 4000RPM & Redline...seems alot quicker and burbles, cracks like a champ

So happy with it and highly recommend this cheap mod to anyone who hasn't had it done - thanks Mettams Mufflers - best 350 clams ever spent on the car (except the chip)

When you say it seems a lot quicker, in what way? Do you notice it down low or only in higher rev range?

What Cat did you use? Did you reuse the exhaust sensor?

Sounds like a good price! Love to hear it if you have the ability to record...

il get a vid up soon

what is this sensor you speak of and what does it do?

no idea if its connected now or not...honestly if it ain't, the results outweigh the negatives (if any) by not being connected
