Today i mourned the loss of my front number plate when i got back to my car after dinner to notice a huge dent in it and a crack in my front bumper, suspiciously shaped like a tow bar. ****ers.
Just been pulling various interior panels off looking for annoying rattles. I found that one or my tweeters in the back had a broken mount, and was the cause of a major rattle, so some Loctite 401 and some spray on accelerator quickly fixes that. All the rattles are fixed up and the interior is now nice and tight again. Now I just have a couple of more things to fix up and I'll be happy with the car again!!
I have a product called clean clay for some of those rattles, have a bit left over if anyone local is after a little, better than blutac...
I would love to take that off your hands if you're happy to part with it. I've got *so* many rattles in the dash and doors it's not funny - they've all been introduced since the dash had to come out (after the car's little front-end prang, it had to come out to replace the bonnet cable. Idiot smash repairer but that's another story)
Anyway - after some months of not doing anything to the car, just driving it and getting annoyed at it, I've finally ordered the PD160 intake from Jabbasport, as well as some poly bushes for the stock front ARB. Also getting some sub-frame spacers and fresh stretch bolts, to stop the clunk on reversing.
Also looking into some thicker or genuine transmission oil to replace the Redline MTL, hopefully to quieten the gearbox/flywheel chatter from the ECS 14lbs SMF unit.
I also need to find a new stock dogbone insert, as the Superpro/APR poly one is driving me insane with vibrations.
Down goes the bank balance....
Where do you get the "clean clay" from noone? I really need the stuff too since fitting the SEAT front LCA rear bushes :( I may even revert to stock (with inserts to fill the voids when tracking), it's getting so annoying.
I can't see how thicker gearbox oil would reduce clutch chatter, csimpson but let us know if it works.
I'm really surprised that you find the polyureathane torque arm bush to be such an issue on a petrol engine - in the diesel, it's such a pain that I swap it back to stock when not tracking.
Can't remember where I got the clay from, a modelling store maybe?
I bought about 300grams, like 16 sticks. Each stick is about 10x10x60mm, so goes a long way. I have 4 or 8 sticks left.
If you want it, pm me
i did the unspeakable...
unmentionable....
UNFATHOMABLE!!!!!!!!!!
i raised my car an inch all round....
seriously - i took a drive up to sydney, and back - i love low VW's and i think they look fggin sweet, but i couldnt take it anymore - it took me 12 hrs, at some points at 70kmh, on the way down the Hume, and i STILL took some seriously bad hits - my front bump stops are compressed, and im not anywhere near as low as some of you guys!
so yeah. low is sick, but whatever meets you go to, i'll be the one rocking up in the little polo with 3 fingers' worth of wheel arch gap - even my kid sister, last night, commented on how much better the ride is.
so yeah. sorry to leave the club, guys......
