^^^^ see what happens, Tanner, when you solve the following equation: polo gti + GIAC =

honestly, mate, if the polo is fine for you size wise, you ARE NOT missing out one single bit in getting a polo gti.

guy in a fpv v8 ute tried pushing me at the start of reefton spur... took me 3 turns to lose him completely, and mine's a DIESEL (and diesels are slow, especially for those who've never driven one). now, let's play ''choose your own adventure":

    either:
    a) ooh. maybe chipped polos CAN spank v8's in the twisties
    b) i am a seriously FCKING AWESOME driver

which of the above would you say is the lesser of two evils, that you'd pick?

hint: im not that good a driver, not at all, but if you'd prefer to tell me that im a seriously talented driver, rather than admit that these cars are better than v8 muscle in the twisties, then go right ahead

Bflat does have a dump pipe as well as a remap.

The Golf is much more refined than the Polo but it depends on where your priorities lie - the Polo feels much more nimble

I was in this boat as well 3 months ago, went with the polo as it's a bloody bargain. Alot of car for the money. MUCH better value than a golf.

My mate paid 20k for a 2005 golf with sunroof and 100k km's....I paid 15k for a 2008 polo gti with 52k kms. yes he has more toys and his feels more planted in the drive, but if anything that makes it a bit boring....polo has more character.
    2008 POLO GTI - SOLD
    2005 MkV Golf GTI - couldn't resist

Best to get someone to take you around the block in a tuned Polo. If it does not inspire you, nothing wrong with a Golf GTI and a LOT more tuning and aftermarket options.

If you have that sort of cash, you could consider the new Polo GTI with a much more refined drive (if you like that).

Agree with noone. When I was choosing what car to get next noone was kind enough to take me around in his polo. 1.5 years later, I have found the car to be reliable, fun to drive and something I'll keep for another 5 years.

If it has any value at all, I came from a 2006 Honda Integra - Type S.

If you are coming from an S2000, a Golf is the way to go. Performance is on par (if not as peaky) .

I love S2000s - all time favourite Japanese car (including RX7, GTR, Supra etc)
