    What is this

    Hi Guys

1st post so any help would be appricated.

i had an accident in my 08 Polo TDI, i plan to do most of the repairs myself but im not very good with part names and hoping someone could assist?

Have a look at the attachment
The 1st bit connected to the shock has snapped, i can't remove it from the shock either. Its connected by a Torx screw and nut. Torx bit size is between T55 and T60 and i can't find a bit anywhere that fits, even tried snap on order from. I've been told that this part is connected to the shock and if i replace the shock, it will come with it. Can anyone confirm? it seems like an upper control arm to me...
The 2nd bit i assume is the steering rack, i think it is bent. now to replace this i would have to detach it from the left and wheel and slide it out?

Also does anyone know any good wreckers in Sydney apart from ASV?

    Cheers
    John

the part that has snapped is basically your hub asembly the part that holds your wheel bearing and hub. the bolt that holds it is an m14 spline or double hex as snap on would call it. you might be able to get away using an 14mm allen key the other part is your steering track rod or tie rod and the part on the end of that is your tie rod end or track rod end depending were you are in the world and can be removed by undoing the large clip on the black steering rack bellows gaitor and there will be a big 32-36mm nut to undo bit tricky to get into a big shifter may be best and lock the steering over towards you. if your buying a new track rod from vw it comes with a new track rod end on.
