Water in Front Footwell

Check all your rubber gromets in the fire wall or if you're running an audi amp and the cable runs over the wheel arch, check where it comes through into the cabin. I had a similar issue with my subaru, the gromet had come out of the fire wall and as I'd usually only run the aircon when it rained I thought it was air con related, lol. Nope.

Many years ago now, I had a similar issue with my Torana. In even slightly heavy rain, the drain from the fresh air intake could not cope and water would end up in the passenger footwell as this is where the fan was.

Another thing that happened was the plastic cover that is glued to the door framework came adrift at the top and gell against the outer door skin. As a result, any rain that made it past the door glass seal was conveniently diverted into the passenger footwell.

The key is to work out where it is coming in. You can try and use a hose and then have someone inside the vehicle trying to see where the water is coming in.

I finally found the problem. The passenger side sunroof drain pipe was blocked, then it causes the catchment to overflow causing the water to flow through the interior lining finally reaching the passenger foot well.. All I need now is something to unblock it lol

I believe its under the car, but what you do is open the sunroof, and then look from the top and you'll see two holes, one at each end, you'll then need to poke with a metal wire through it to clear it if its clogged.

If you find that its not clogged, then it means the pipe is not connected or is damaged.

The other side of the drain hole is located under the windscreen. For the passenger drain hole it's located under the windscreen. Very difficult to see. **** location if you ask me. Also it's in the area where all the leaves get caught. Dodgy design.

I got mine unclogged using a high pressure compressor with the blower attachment.

I have the problem you describe at the moment, I would put my bets on the drain tubes.
Open your bonnet and check in the back corners, mine was chock full of leaves, blow it out.
I opened the sunroof and blew compressed air down the front two drain tubes to clear them until I could hear the air coming out of the corners I mentioned, this seems to have fixed the problem.

I would have water in the footwells without fail after rain, now there's nothing ...in the front.
I still have water pour out the rear seatbelt holes and all over the seatbelts, etc.
I think I've found the fix, but it's not a quick fix. It involves removing all the interior trim and replacing the OEM drain tubing that fails after time with better tubing.

Try the front drain tubes first, it will more than likely fix it for you, but check the rears as well

thanks for that, i dont have this problem but my car is parked under a tree so leaves will block it all eventually.....so best i keep ontop of this!

I found straightening out a metal coat hanger (or maybe try some wire with a similar diameter if you run out of length) together with hot soapy water worked well to free the blockage when I had this problem in 90' Honda Prelude.

have you replaced your tubing, ive just found some pesky leaks over my seatbelts and a boot full of water - what did you use to replace the tubing?
