I hope someone from VWA reads these forums, because what this thread shows is how hit and miss their welcome pack, road assist and after sales care is. And hit-and-miss is the worst of all possible worlds for them: if you get it right, it's cool and no-one comments; if you miss everyone, well...at least there's equality; but hit and miss means everyone thinks its poor service, even those who were (randomly) treated properly

I got a bottle of wine and a couple of keyrings, plus a full tank of fuel which I thought was pretty good. About a week after getting it I got a call from VW assist to check that my address details were right, and then a week after that I got the VW assist card in the mail. Also got 2 calls from the dealer, the first about 1 week after picking up the car and the second a week later...just to check that everything was ok. So all in all they seemed pretty good.

That's a pretty good process. The issue is the contrast between your experience and that of others who received nothing, have heard nothing -- and are probably finding out about it here for the first time

Just called up VW assist, and they have my details on their computers, and they will post out a card for me. I did get a broken GTI lanyard from the dealer a few weeks after my purchase if that counts for anything.

I paid $26,990 on the road - this is at the lower price end of the scale as new cars go - my expectations of bells and whistles are pretty low - I'm happy if people are kind of nice to me and (more importantly) do what they say they'll do when they say they'll do it.

Got the road side assist card in the mail a week after taking delivery. Only it says the model of my car is an R32.
