Anybody know if I can still get Castrol Professional SLX?
Castrol SLX Professional III LongLife Powerflow is still there. I think you'd need to find a distributor to buy it and possibly have to buy a carton.

Have a look at Supercheap, they have the Castrol Edge 5w - 30 for $40 atm, bought 5L for the Passat. That was in Sydney though...

I bought 5L of 5w30 from Supercheap a couple of months back when they had it on special for $30.

At that price you can afford to do a DIY change every 7500km

Some vw dealer spare part dep WILL sell you SLX Pro over counter. I prefer that any day for 15kms serv... in standard wussy tune this 1.8 eng do not work hard at all, so long term serv with the right oil is normal, i mean thats what vw recommended. The original oil filter is rated at 30kms interval, so not surprised if some dealer don't change filter at 30kms. BMW or Mini recommended 25kms serv interval or even variable... beat that lol. I'm a mechanic but i don't even have time to do 5kms service for mine lol. And don't complain that our Castrol SLX is expensive as approv Castrol for M3 is $30 a liter and they need 6L.

I guess if I could afford an M3 then could afford $30 a litre on oil.
