Visiting Melbourne in a week - car rental

    Hi guys,

I am visiting Melbourne for about a week starting in a week time. I am trying to drive to 12 Apostles and heard that coastal driving is fantastic. I just want to rent a car for a day, and want a sport / luxury car, or at least Holden SS or something.

Do you know any good reputable company for this? I hope to leave around 8am in the morning and come back by the same day. I would prefer drop off and pick up if possible.

Any advice would be highly appreciated!!!
by the way I am staying in CBD. Would be happy to spend up to 200-250 dollars that day.

Try to get a convertible if you can as the road is apparently countless times better with the wind in your hair.

Not sure about the international licence.

I know i didn't need one when i went to NZ for a holiday at Christmas.
Helps that we drive on the same side of the road.

google maps says it's 285km 1-way if you take the scenic route and follow the ocean as much as possible.

This is the normal way i go, ocean road 1 way, then highway coming back. 510km.

Melbourne Cbd, Australia to Melbourne Cbd, Australia - Google Maps

Its a decent 10 hour day if you stop at a few spots along the way. Allow the best part of an hour for 12 apostles alone as its a decent walk down there.

Also with the 80km speed limit from torquay to apollo bay coupled with a convoy of winnebago's doing 50, progress can be very slow.
