    Basically E85 has been heralded as the miracle fuel. All the Internationl drift and time attack cars are moving to it but it's only good for forced induction. You only need to at least double your current injector rate, get a serious pump set up (I would go with a small surge tank for your insane track work mate) and tune. Now if you only use the fuel occasionally you probably wont need to go to a teflon lines but its a good idea. May seem like a bit of effort and spent but bang for buck this upgrade will net you the biggest gain over anything. And best of all its rated as safe as Methonal and safer than Avgas and 110 octane race fuel for engine detonation protection. And out performs them all in terms of power increase.

    We are not talking 10-20 atwkw increase either it's more like 40-60 depending on set up of a 4 banger. And best of all you can get it at the pump at some Caltex and ELF servos and the number is set to rise and it's cheap as.

    I'm reading, but it's all a bit odd to me. Haven't been on Vortex in a while...
    So, you change over the injectors, add a bigger fuel pump, add a bigger fuel reg and.... Pray?
    Has anyone with a polo / Cupra done it?

    They say the Polo's engine (well rods) can handle 300hp and 400nm crank power so I'm at the limit with torque and that's what will bend your rods. So without doing rods would be a gamble for sure. If that's what you mean by pray?

    The only thing you missed is a custom dyno tune from someone with E85 experience. I'm lucky in James from BPS has done plenty. This is the only way to get the big gains and safely. Oh and if you just pulled up to a E85 pump and drove off you would send your little 1.8t to heavan.

    It'll give decent gains for N/A engines if they are tuned for it (and by that I mean increased compression as well as ECU tweaking) but just as with boosted engines, you need to up the fuel delivery a LOT to allow for the lower caloric value of the fuel. It's just that you can never get the same power increase for a N/A engine vs a boosted one.

    Oh, 1 place sorta close.... Painful.
    I wonder how much it would cost if the govt stopped covering the price difference, I think it would be a lot more than 98 if there wasn't government input.
