Transplanting 20VT from Polo GTi into SEAT Cupra GTi.

Hey guys, as the thread suggests i am transplanting the polo engine into my seat Ibiza Gti Cupra. My mechanic here in canberra thinks the best option is to transplant the motor and have standalone engine management such as an autronic running the show in the ibiza. Others have suggested that if i wanted to keep the standard ecu from the polo which i have had APR flashed, that i will have to also switch the locks and clocks from the polo into the ibiza... if im going to do that i may as well put the whole Polo GTi dash into the Ibiza...Any thoughts on whether this option would actually be possible?? A polo gti dash in an ibiza would look pretty awesome...

If i go the autronic route for the computer, then i guess i can upgrade to whatever turbo without being limited to a pre set flash.. and have whatever intake manifold and etc.. any thoughts on this...

Sorry if it may seem that i am posting in the wrong section.. but you can see my quandry.. i dont know if many people have done this here in australia??

    Good luck.

Can I ask why a Polo motor as opposed to a mk4 GTI, or similar motor in the Audi's?

I think you are going to have ECU fun any which way unless you maintain all the stock sensors... Any sensors that differ in spec may screw with the ECU, then you are back to custom coding.

I'd be talking to Matt @ Camden GTI as he has experience in this area, does sound fun tho...

ADRs will state that you'll have to keep your original, unmolested ECU, as per all the Birkin/Westfield/Lotus clubmans that people build.

Revheads like us will want to go the Motec/Haltech/Autronic option.
    Cheap, Fast, Reliable. Choose two.

It's still going to be a far easier prospect to have the immobiliser defeated in the ECU and flash it on the bench or fit the OBD socket as well.

VW spent a log time making the car run nicely in the first place, why go back in time and start over with the mapping, cold running etc etc by fitting stand alone..

The Cupra is the brother of the Polo GTI?

Why not import one from the UK? Or is that not the point?

I'm guessing he's already got the polo and the cupra sitting in the shed?

Missed That bit about the ECU being flashed, still easier to have the immobiliser defeated though.
