officially how wide do your rims need to be to fit 235's or 245's under? 9' or 10'? and if so is rubbing the main concern or the fact that it sticks out from the guard so much? .........apologies for hijacking , btw.

There is a lot of variance on what should fit on what, and specific tyre manufacturer's have their own guides.
On a MKV GTI we run 8.5" wheels & a 235 sits nicely, a 245 fits on the same rim too, but the 245 rubs (on our car anyway).
On some of our other cars we run 245 on a 10" rim too.
In one of my Ozaudi posts, I photographed a 235 width Toyo R888 next to a 225 Hoosier R6 (on the same rim) - believe it or not, the 225 was almost 15mm wider than the 235![]()
