Best value for money would be ECSTuning.com. Look at their kit for the Mk4 Golf GTi (straight fit to Polo). Cheapest if US$420 shipped to Oz. Includes 312mm discs + adaptors to use standard calipers.

They obviously have various other kits as well.

I'm tempted to go for their Stg 1 kits (332mm front and 308mm rear) as soon as I have my 17" wheels on. Will cost about US$1300 for both shipped !

Have a look on www.ebay.co.uk there is stuff usually on the for 312mm brakes. Whether they ship worldwide or not could be a problem but I would email them and ask. I would also look into upgrading ur brakes lines if u are goin to the hassle of converting to 312mm. Then ur gti will stop how a gti should stop in the first place!!

Not that much benefit using standard calipers on 312mm discs. No increase in pad size, just a bigger disc.Audi S3 and TT are the donor vehicles for the bigger brakes-also some versions of the new Beetle.
Check with Guy or Seb or someone who knows their stuff.

Few conflicting stories going on here, but any advice is good.

Would it really matter if there was no real increase in pad bite area on the disk.

If the disk is bigger in diameter wouldnt it mean that the caliper is further from the centre of the hub which would mean it brakes more efficiently anyway????

Think ill call guy and see if he has any 312mm kits available off the shelf... i just wana pick up the phone, say this is what i want now please send it to me.
    No screwing around !

Guy has always been great to deal with, soo hopefully he will have a brake upgrade kit available (and no not the brembo kit, would love it though)

Will 312mm disks even with the stock caliper fit inside the standard 16"s?

check out the specs of race version Polos in Europe, 300mm rotors and under isn't uncommon, BUT they all have one thing in common, larger four piston calipers. if you wanna go massive rotors with piddly calipers, then it's your money...

Having fitted 312mm disks, I am of the opinion they are an extravagance unless you plan to track your car frequently. I don't sense any difference in daily driving between the stock rotors with Ferodo pads, and 312mm rotors with Ferodo pads....and the cost difference is about $900, fitted.

Why? This would only be for looks, not performance....and if you wanted to, you could probably go as large as 312mm under stock 16" rims. But this would simply add unsprung weight. Not worth it, IMHO
