its just all the hot parts cooling down (shrinking) but its nothing to worry about its normal.
hi guys just a quick question here
i recently noticed that in my polo gti, after i turn off the engine and remove the keys from the ignition, when i go outside i can hear a small ticking noise coming from the engine. (im guessing the turbo?)
is this normal?
thanks guys!

yep, normal. most (if not all) cars do that.
Perfectly normal ... and if you've been pushing it (within the legal limits ... obviously), you'll hear the water pump continue to run for a while to help cool down the turbo-heated areas of the engine.

thanks guys!
hmm its louder than a normal cars noise cos i dont think ive heard it before from my other cars.
after i drive tomorrow il be back with a more accurate description!
Yea I get this as well....
It almost like an electric buzz... comin from the engine bay, front left (when your facing the car with the bonnet open) area...
I just assumed it was something to do with coolin...
It goes on for a minute or so afta the car is switched off...
T Go.

you shut down u car too fast..
the valves still running after you shut down you car, tehn u get the cliicking noise, it is normal.
those buzzing noise should be the electric motor running to pump oil through the system to cool...
