    Stopping distance

Driving along minding my own business today on the north side of brisbane and queensland police decide to take a very expensive glamor shot of my ride.

Should not be too bad I think I was doing about 70 in a 60 zone and I had just cleaned it so it should at least look good in the photo.

In the process of looking up the damage for my photo I found this...

Pretty funny you think with all that revenue from speeding fines that could get some facts straight. Who has a reaction time of 1.5s!! Hopefully no one I am sharing the road with!

Not sure what combination of car and driver requires 84m to stop from 100 km/hr that is certainly a lot further than our polos which is supposed to be around 35m.

    Rise!

Yes! Writhe and boil the seeds of anarchy as we breed the fight to reclaim a realistic breaking distance!

Last time I checked, my vision was 20/20 and I knew when the apocalypse was occurring in front of me.

Also 15 years of FPS games has made my senses lighting quick....

Stopping distance for a Polo GTI from 100kph is closer to 40m-maybe a little less.
    Evo X Lancer around 38m,Audi S3 36.5m.
The reaction time is about right, but the stopping distance is a joke.
We do an emergency stop from 60kph[on a wet road] and most students manage 35-40m including reaction time.
    57m from 60k???
I think someone should tell them disc brakes have been invented........
    Cheers

I always find that advertising 'safety' message is always exaggerated and unbelievable, and this is just another example of what the authorities try to B/S to us.

on the otherhand,if I'm driving along, and i have to say bye to my friend on my mobile phone, re-arrange my coffee, and not get mascara in my eye, then perhaps the stopping distances are correct after all!!

Your reaction time is proably quicker when you're 100% concentrating, but how often are you doing that?
