    Good luck.
absolutely, this is my parting advice to all.

meet at a public place if you have to i.e. a macdonalds, service station whatever. dont give you address details over the phone under any circumstances.

Maybe keep an eye on eBay / Gumtree for the Exhaust? Seems like the only really traceable part.

Mate thats a real shame, I was looking at your car online a few weeks ago, beautiful example..

How did they manage to steal it? Kinda thought it was a fairly tricky car to steal without the key?

If they got the key, think about whos been in your house recently

I know if they have access to a tilt tray its pretty easy. Drivers often carry morning fresh or other dishwashing liquid with them, mix that with some water on a metal tray, offers very little resistance. Just attach the winch and pull the car on. Seen it done quite a bit with customers who lock/loose their keys.

And he would have to get into the car first anyway, which without a spare key is smashing the window as i assume the car deadlocks itself.

Best of luck on the recovery, but maybe your better off, providing its insured.

I keep telling people that alarms and immobilisers aren't the be-all and end-all of car security. It took me less than a minute to overcome the alarm/immobiliser on my van, and start it when the remote failed. I'm no professional car thief, but it's easy to see why cars go missing all the time.

If they've got a tilt tray, they'll get your car no matter what. But nobody listens.

Best place to start is to always try and park it where it'll be difficult for a tilt tray to get at it.

Very true. The thing is that if they are going to the expense of a tilt tray, 4 "go jacks" is peanuts and now there is nowhere you can hide.

They say that alarms and anti-theft systems are only for the honest individuals. Anyone who wants to get what you have will do it anyway. This does not mean you make it easy for them by having nothing.

No offense to our little toys, but for a Polo? They're hard enough to sell on a good day.

Yup for sure. No point risking a conviction for a polo, if you're going steal a car might as well make it a car worth getting caught for. When it comes to stealing, the polo is barely any better than an excel.

I'd be mostly PO'd about the inconvenience and hassle to than stuff around finding another car.

Sorry to hear about the theft though. Hopefully karma goes full circle.
