    Stereo adaptor advice 2007 GTI

I have an Alpine 530 EBT to install. I have bought an iso adaptor for the GTI. Is this car a full canbus system or not?

I have purchased release keys and fascia (yet to arrive)

I recieved the VW iso adaptor yesterday from the UK. It appears the ignition and dash illumination wires are not plugged into the main black adaptor piece, the other wires are. Does anyone know were these two wires plug into?

Placed the HU ignition wire into the Safe (yellow& red wire). HU doesnt turn off when I take the key out. WTF is going on here. Dont want to flatten the battery. What have others done to wire up the head unit ignition cable up to so the dam thing turns off when the key is removed? My searches have proved fruitless so far.
    Can someone please help?

all VW's from 2004 had canbus. so using a simply ISO to Din converter plug will not work. There is no switch power on the radio loom plug (Car side), you will need to either run switched power from the fuse board in the right hand side of the steering wheel.

Or you can tap a wire from behind the Gauge Cluster (YOU WILL HAVE TO USE A RELAY FOR THIS) to have the power work like it did as per factory. I cannot remember which wire it was thou, sorry. Only been installing RCD310/510 and RNS510's for the past 8 months in MK5/6 cars.

I would also then suggest you get someone local to you, if you do not already have VCDS (VAG-Com) to disable the radio in the CAN-Gateway.
Otherwise there will always be 2 fault codes come up.

I have my acc switch wire running to my cigarette lighter.
Constant 12v comes from my battery directly (fused at the the battery).
The radio turns off as soon as I turn the car off.
Prior to this ( and using the correct vw iso adapter ) I had issues with central locking, flat battery and alarm going off.
A canbus adapter is needed if you want the factory (radio stays on for an hour after shut down) setup.
I only used the iso adapter to tap into the original speaker wires.

I can't offer any advice on the wiring/set up. However I had the same problem and after much frustration got it done professionally. Yeah it cost, but at least I know it works as it is supposed to, and I have recourse should anything not work.

Ok people, I have found the answer!
You have to have the 2 canbus wires connected into the HU's 12v battery wire. The HU's ignition wire needs to be connected into the red/black wire port of the cars wiring loom plug for the stereo.
Been away for 8 days, no flat battery, no fried car, no warning lights.
A big thanks to UK polo forum. I will try to find the link soon to post it here.

Now time for me to figure the wiring schematics for the reverse camera!
