    Stability Control on Polo?

Hi, I am researching new and used cars for my 18 y.o. son.

The non negotiable items for this are: Auto , ABS Brakes, 2+ front Airbags, stability control ( ESP).

Other than that i want it as cheap and gutless as possible. Up to 4 years old is ok.

Can anyone tell me when Polo's started with ESP? Maybe was it an option on some earlier models?

Any help ( even alternative brand options ) much appreciated.

As far as I know, it isn't available on any Polo other than the 2006+ GTI on which it's standard. Auto isn't available on that car and it certainly isn't gutless.

You'll be looking at Hyundai Getz, i30... Barina etc.

ESP is now an option on the new Edition and Pacific branded Polo's (i.e. 2009 models).

Shame, the cheapest new entry would be Edition, auto+ ESP which comes in at $20300 + O/R's - a bit ( LOT) more than i'm planning. the auto adds 2300. too bad he didn't get a manual license this will cost me! hyundai is looking better.... ( well i won't be driving it! )

    Make him pay the extra

Also, at the moment, you can probably walk out with 1 at about that price too, they'll throw stuff at you with the current market.

I may not have one, but I was one only 4 years ago I know all those tricks.

You could always buy a manual and then he'll have to get a proper license.

he can drive ok, but he organized his mates clapped out corolla for the test. So on the day I veto'd going to the test in the Corolla - the tester would have impounded the car!

on the numbers its cheaper for me to pay for him to get retested....

Cheapest way would be a Hyundai Getz 2006+ model. 1.6 auto does have the option of a safety pack including ESP, airbags & ABS.

Its no VW but not a bad car. Look at paying about $11000 all up for a 2007 1.6 auto with ESP.

It would need decent tyres and a Pedders spring kit (about $800 fitted) to make it handle anywhere near decent as std it has handling deficiencies that even ESP can't fix.

Getz sounds a great option. plus Hyundai have a 5yr warranty which is good. i was going to go to honda, toyota and hyundai to see what we can get new. a drive away yaris is 14k so if you can get esp for another 1k 15k would be ok. plus there'll be end of year deals happening soon
