Squeaky noise on reversing

Hi guys,

I've been getting this squeaky noise on reversing... it does it 'per revolution of the wheels'. Obviously slowly reversing out you can hear it....

Forward motion doesn't cause this. I believe this happened before with previous owner of the car before I bought it.

Do you know what causes this problem?

It can't be contacts between brakes and discs, even if I crawl forward this doesn't happen...

I don't think this happens once I've driven the car for a while, and more noticeable if the car is cold / in the morning... I think...

I'd say it was the brakes...

Noise (in this case squeeking) is made when material vibrates at its resonant frequency (or a higher order harmonic frequency)... perhaps there is something about the direction of reverse that creates this vibration that going forward does not.

some polos do make this noise. apparently according to the dealer, its normal.... Thats what they told me

oh... yes... i do have that noise after i was the car and the rainly days, it happens~

but after a few days it gone, dunno why... and the dealer told me... o well we can't hear it

I was told it was normal by VW dealer but Im not sure he was thinking clearly, he had just seen my FMIC and was short of breath.

yep squeaky noise here too, figured it was the brakes.
