Welcome bubu,
You can source the seat intake from https://sslrelay.com/s74326199.onean...dex.shopscript
If you want to have a look at the difference between the seat and stock intakes there is a link in the FAQ thread.
Hello Everyone,
This is my first post even though ive been reading these pages for a few weeks.
I put a deposit on a new silver (metallic), with sunroof GTI for $28,930 drive away (07' build/compliance).
Anyway what I was wanting to find out is where you guys are sourcing your Seat cold air intake? From wreckers, local speed shop or Seat spare parts? Some pics of what I should keep a look out for would also be much appriciated.
On another note can anybody point me in the right direction on finding cheap insurance. The best I got was around $1,600 (from just car) for male over 25 who has not had any car insurance before.
Cheers.

Hi there
Good deal you struck there. I paid a fair bit more than that with no metallic and no roof.
Runout deals are the bomb. BUT i dont care that i paid more because ive had mine for a year now and im loving every moment.
Insurance... i rung Shannons. Told them im part of three car clubs. vw vortex, vwwatercooled and ford forums (you have to be an enthusiast to insure through them, soo you have to be part of cruises or forums from what i was told)
Im 22, no accidents, no claims, 3 years driving exp. Im paying 1548 through shannons. 800ish excess which is brilliant incomparison with 1600 just car excess.
Insured with all the bits and pieces done to the car, free windscreen each year, covered for track days and club events. Plus, its insured for a few thousand more than just car were insuring for

I'm insured with RACQ - 24 yr old and raiting one with no previous claims or fines and pay $1100 a year with $350 excess... Not too bad at all!!
I am thinking the reason it is so expensive is because of the no previous insurance.. were you on someone elses policy as a listed driver previously?? RACQ gave me credit for the time I was on my parents insurance before I went out and got my own.. Worth asking the question
Mitch - How did you get Whannons to insure you?? I listed a few of my previous and current clubs plus a few of the races and activities I have competed in and as soon as I said i was under 25 they didn't want to know me!!
I've found insurance to be an odd one - I'm 21, no insurance record, turbocharged vehicle - < $900 with AAMI (with discount because parents Mazda is also with them)! I had to ring them up to double check it!!
Shannons insurance. Under 25.
I think it had a lot to do with the fact that the insurance consultant who took my call was actually a vwwatercooled mk3 member hahahahaha
He was tops, increased my insured value. HALVED my excess and insured my modifications. For only like an extra 100 bucks over just cars (worth it to change just for the half excess)
Overall very happy with the deal i struck.
Plus... ive had one speeding ticket about two years ago. under 15kmph over.

I have never had insurance, not even third party.
With a few of my previous cars being rotors (RX-3, 78' 323 with 13B, MKII Escort with 13BT), I never even bothered to check about insurance as I know they would not even want to talk to me.
As for previous fines etc. they dont ask you that when you do an online quote and they only ask about accidents in the past 3 years! I have lost my licence previously (damn those rotary engines), but the insurance companies dont care unless it happened in the last 3 years.
Insurance is a funny thing I cant believe j0n_VR6 gets his so cheap when I went through AAMI they quoted something around $3,800 and im over 25 years old and been driving for 10 years.
I've had an over 45km/h speeding and suspended for 6 months, prob 5 years ago so prob doesn't count. I was under 25 when I first got the GTI and I paid $970 with NRMA, no previous claims. The strange thing was however that when working out the finance with VW, they asked if I wanted to get a quote through their insurer so I said yeah OK. They rang back and said they wont insure under 25 and turbo, yet I paid less then a grand with NRMA and excess was only 800, go figure.
Oh yeah and welcome, great choice of car.

im with Rivers Insurance. i'm 22, no insurance record, have lost my license within the last 5 years (6 months suspended for a joint DUI and speeding )....bad times. they originally said no to insuring me but because my parents company has a few cars with them they ended up agreeing. my insurance is $850 with them, under my name. can't remember what my excess is.....but pretty good.
you don't want to have to resort to just car.
It seems that if your family has cars with a company there is a lot of room for negotiation.
Good luck!

So far the best quote I got was with ING for $1,433 and $450 excess.
I have come to the conclusion that they reason they are asking more than most of you guys are paying is because of the area I live in (Liverpool, South Western Sydney).
I still get around 60%- 70% no claim bonus because I havent had any accidents or lost my licence in the last 3 years.
