Eddy, was reading a fast fours mag the other day and saw some bolts that have an expansion thing in the middle of them that when I saw these I thought immedietly about this thread, when I find the article again I will post the details.
Hoyhoy.
Noone the problem is keeping it together, especially when tracking.
Me has gone to extreme measures to try & overcome this, last track day was in Oct & the first track day that it held together since fitting the Ko4...
Hooroo.
You lads seen one of these?
K03/K04 Turbo Locking Flange - 034 MOTORSPORT
i had some fancy locking tabs specially made up but didnt quite work in practice, shame, anyway yep seen these tabs but dont think its the loosening as such, lockwire as ive done on many aircraft applications ( however not with 1000 degrees heat is one of the best locking method) should be ok . Ive locked a couple of Polos and they have held up, however, its not always the case and i think its not the bolt loosening its expanding therefore it has to come loose. When fitted normally and expands , then with vibrations it will loosen especially when tracked as its getting vibrations from go to wo. No rhyme or reason folks, ive seen them loose on cars that dont get driven hard. The ones ive locked up have been good so thankful for that but not sure how to 100% combat this yet. We even tacked blobs on the bolts on the early Audis as they were accesible from the top unlike the Pog but man they still blew gaskets. Hmm. One of those things. I still reckon studs with nuts would work but access is the drama. I would love to try one with the engine out to see how it goes , That may happen someday. We have pointer invented in the UK which has been implemented here now for truck wheels for the phenomenon of loosening left wheels, this cant be fixed only watched by pointers, we might and hate to say it have to monitor this one
Cheers for now

I started noticing those pointers on truck wheels about a month ago, now I seem to see them everywhere. If it were more accessible we could be checking it ourselves or at least keeping an eye out.
