So it may just be franken/k004 with a decent FMIC. This would then mean that the larger turbo will not have to work as hard, so temps will be lower? , and a custom code flash can do that.
Does that sound right ?

My THS intercooler arrived today. Hopefully will be installing this weekend if I get all the other bits a pieces.
So far, the only solid conclusion is that all the FMICs are better than the stock SMIC

APR tunes and Forge front mount coolers have shown good (but not amazing) numbers on a number of different cars. If you are happy with 135kw ATW, this is a proven path.
Not to say that other tunes aren't just as reliable or anything, just a tried and tested combination seen a few times.
No one is debating the Forge IC keeps the intake temperature cool, but it is the coolers throughput which is in question. Guy H a while ago, in another thread which I am too lazy to go and find, provided dyno results between my car and Eddies. The only real difference was mine had a Forge intercooler. Eddies produced about another 7KW more than mine and his boost was better. I changed the IC to an APR one and re-dynoed the car and then my figures pretty well mapped Eddies. I thought this was just a K04 issue, but looking at what vwindahouse has shown with his car this is not the case. Anyways each to there own....
So it seems according to pogo_55 that more power was generated through having less back pressure than having cooler charge....interesting. Perhaps the ths may be the best, as it should have low back pressure, but since it has a larger core thqn the seat, it should cool beter???

Nice one Kenny! Guys I think there is a direct correlation better torque figures, requested boost levels and intake temps. Look at Eddy's, Jason and my torque figures
Jason 366nm End intake temp 49
Eddy 358nm End intake temp 44
My 348nm End intake temp 45
All had higher intake temps
Look at the the cars with a lot less torque, Leitch, Sharkie
Sharkie 312nm End intake temp 40
Leitch 303nm End intake temp 32
Intake temps are clearly not robbing any of the top 3 of power and especially torque. Also look at the requested boost figures from Sams graphs. The turbos are not working any where near as hard on Sharkies and Leitchs cars.
So what other proof do we have now thanks to Kenny. Both a k03s and K04 polo increased by 6 and 7kw atw when changing from a forge intercooler as a result of better boost pressure from the new intercoolers.
