    so what intercooler now???

    Hi all,

I looked over all the polo stats from pog wars I.
What amazed me was that the forge still kept temps lowest, and requeted boost was still very close to actual?
So the million $ question, what intercooler to get.
The forge looks best, however, noone had a ths, larger seat cooler, which may be beter.

Would appreciate any words of wisdom/ views.

    Thanks

Just to be clear, the above chart shows apples with apples....ie the increase in kw is only due to a change in intercooler, NO other changes at all!
If thats the case, the the slight increase in temp via the seat is more than overcome by the decrease in pressure.

Wonder what would happen if you had a larger turbo, could it counter the back pressure in the forge, and utilise the lower temp?
    So many questions.
Did pog wars just create more questions

I also noticed that the Seat cooler dosen't keep the temperature down as much as the Forge cooler did.

If you need a few more PSI boost i would just add a manual boost controller lol

Id wait to see if we can properly evaluate THS core.

I know I've splattered this message across a few posts, but you can't just look at the temps without seeing what the resulting output was.

For eg, if the Seat core system showed higher temps, but generated more torque, then that would make sense.

For the time I will be holding off from the THS core as this comparison did not show the black / white differences that some had claimed. Also, the flow restriction is likely more relevant to an upgraded turbo than the stock one.

Would it make any difference as to whether your intent is to run it down the dragstrip or on a circuit? Marginally lower boost but cooler intake temps Vs more stable boost and high intake temps? That may be the reality of the results that it's all a trade off of one Vs the other rather than as noone said, black and white differences.

Guys from the looks of this it seems the intake temps or intercooler in general don't seem to have much impact on power figures at all

    My power 156
    Jason's power 156

    My torque 348
    Jason's torque 366

And just to really throw a spanner in the works - Jason has an open pod filter right off the MAF next to engine. So much for our carefully thought-out and engineered Cold Air Intake's

That's a very good point, if we're talking real world aplication, race track or drag strip (haha, real world...) the driver will have much greater bearing on outcome that a few kilowatts here and there.

Just looked at the results again, and it shows Leitch pushing lower boost than Ant. Perhaps thats why the forge IC seems to work beter ??
If Leitch pushed the same boost, perhaps the temp will also rise proportionally??

If you compress air it gets hotter, physics, you can't avoid it. No idea what the ratio of pressure to heat is though.

Off to google it now though.
