Jmac, so if my secondary pump is working well now - what can I do prevent this to happen? check for the combo valve and gasket regularly?

That coil recall is interesting. I will call VW and ask. My car was on the road in Feb 2006, so probably manufactured in end of 2005.

06 Golf GTI - Bluefin Stage 1 blacked out with ED30 theme, leather, xenon, etc.

I took my car in aswell to get the central locking fixed and they booked me in again a week later for the recall. At uni atm.. but will check my car later for the recall code. Pretty sure it was the coil pack... was about 4 months ago..totally meant to mention it haha

Sure can... Recall: 28F5 - Fit 4 x Coil Packs. Part No. VW06A905115D

Seems to be 05-07 builds from my snooping around the net and affects Polo GTI, Passat V6, Golf GTI, R32 etc...

    Hey guys

I've had a light come on in my dash and had it read by golfwagen, they believe its the secondary air pump. Has anyone else had the light come on?

Golfwagen want to double check the relay and other possibilities first before they replace the air pump. I'm hoping its just a relay/electrical issue.

    Cheers

Had another yesterday, real bad, filled to the neck in water and air cleaner element saturated, and of course MIL on. No noises coming from this one as its fully drowned. Ran the car with the SAi corrugated pipes off and watched the spatter from the combi valve. Dont think it only happens to Polos, got a 307 Pug doing the same. Doesnt happen to them all but i would probably be asking you friendly tech to check the pipes and pump for any signs of moisture every service, costly if it gets hold of it. Way out is removal, some of the guys are trialling just that at the moment on here. All good if the MIl stays away,if you do remove it and do the mod then you will of course have more black smoke on start up as the super rich exhaust wont have extra air , no big deal really. im looking forward to see how the mods go to see if the lamp stays out.
    cheers

Mine was like this. Philip at Golfwagen said he took it out and turned it upside down and a tonne of water came out. Fixed now under stat. warranty.

    Mine was denied under warranty
They said the only way water could get into it was because I drove through a flood
