Yes, it could cause damage if unfiltered. Just get a small k&n crank case breather filter and put it on there as a few of the gus on here have.
hi guys,
hopefully someone can assist me with a response.
a while ago, i took my car to get a bmc /cda filter fitted. this is the carbon fibre look filter that is roundish, and bolts onto the intake.
my question is that once this was done, there was a pipe thrown away. this pipe went from "something" into the old air filter box, now with this new pod, there is no room for it.
it seems to be some sort of secondary air supply, but not sure.
i now have this opening into this device which looks like a small blowing pipe on the front of the engine, which is open...no filter, no covering etc....so, question:
1. what is this that blows the air
2. what is its function
3. is it ok with no cover/filter
4. can it cause any damage to the engine without this pipe being filtered.
thanks guys...

hi blitzen,
what is this for. also, did you just put the breather filter direct onto the actual "device" or did you put the filter on the end of the pipe...also, what size filter diameter....tx again...
I have not done anything to that pipe as I have used a drop in performance panel filter. The pipe is used got the secondary air pump that draws in air on cold engine starts to help keep down emissions.
as for the diameter, you are going to have to get out there with a set of calipers or a tape measure to measure it, as I have no idea.
