But what's the big deal with a GIAC chip? Why are there haters? I was under the impression that GIAC, APR, Oettinger and Revo were all pretty much the same.
Its the age old thing of mine is better than yours...Pays not to get into it really.

What you are saying is true, they are reliviely simialr just opposing brands.

Couldnt agree more, Think of the ford/holden rivalry. And its like that. Not all get involved but some take it to far. Thats why getting a good conversation about reflash/chipping always gets wildly out of control cause some people think its the god given right to bag someone out because they didnt choose the same company they did. Sad really as we are all adults.

Actually, while all reflashes give around the same output, I don't reckon they are similar, in terms of the shape of the power/torque curves. Certainly, from the dyno days I have done, there are marked differences in the curves of REVO, Oettinger and APR....none better or worse....just different.

For example, my REVO curve shows the big dump of torque you can feel when driving, as soon as the engine hits around 2,800 rpm.

Yes but in reality they all improve power, torque, drivability etc etc. Similar doesnt mean exactly the same. You just have to find the one that best suits you. As for us in brisbane we dont have much choice.

Yeah ... don't start. I just hate chopping these threads up into tiny little pieces.

This is a perfect example of why people make different choices. Even torque increase suits a different driving style to what you've mentioned.

That gold license is here to stay regardless LOL you just got to be smart hehehe and know when its ok and when its not..

I'm not getting involved and saying one is better than the other. My choice was purely convenience and affordability.. Either way they are all going to give me an increase in power which is what I'm after.

I shall keep you all updated

OK ... this thread has wandered way off track (Seb's contact details) and the answer has been given. Now it's just meandering around ... going nowhere fast.

Think I'll close it ... but first ... all the best, Lori. I know you'll love having those extra horses under the bonnet and that extra 'kick-in-the-pants' acceleration.
