Is there a Forgea piping kit made for the seat fmic ? asking beceause I didnt find anything like that on there web site...
diddn't know there was a new topic about this but i will also post it here
yesterday me and a mate have been busy to fit the intercooler on the Polo.
wassn't so hard to do.
a bit of plastic from the bumper needed to go and a plastic holder for the grill that is useless and not visable.
the piping from Forge was disigned for an Seat Ibiza but it fitted perfect on the polo as well.
this is the result after 2 hours of puzzle
ps: better and more pictures will follow after my cellphone works again!

How much does the SEAT intercooler weigh?
The reason I ask is that turbo diesels have different requirements when it comes to intercooling compared to petrol turbos.

Interesting Article...
What I read from it is that the Diesel intercooler is likely to be better at quick heat dissipation as the turbo works longer and harder.
Assuming there was not a substantial pressure drop, it SOUNDS like a diesel intercooler would be a good substitute, if not overkill...
that covers a hell of a lot of the radiator... will be interesting to see how it all goes in summer temps under long periods of full throttle.
I'm assuming it gets warm in belgium at some stage of the year...

** All information I provide is probably incorrect until validated by someone else **
Except that petrol turbos need an intercooler with a larger mass to absorb the heat spikes for when you do run at high boost level (only occassionally). It acts like a heat sink.
I think it was Guy from APR that said that the intercooler was one of the last things to upgrade (cost vs benefit) on a Polo.
For diesels, they are better of with an intercooler with low mass and high surface area and flow since they stay on boost much longer.
@Rosonic: It's a verry new kit and i diddn't find it neither on the Forge website. it's not on it yet.
but i saw pictures of the kit on a Ibiza and i saw a Forge logo on it.
so i went to a local Forge dealer nearby and let them contacted Forge for asking about the kit.
apparently it's a new kit wich can be ordered under the refnr: "FM SKINT"
@h100vw: Thanks for replacing the topic
@pologti1.8T: don't know how much it weighs exacly, i think around 4 - 5 KG's
@seangti: a few weeks ago we have had 38C°, and last winter we have had -24C°, so w get verry extreme wheater sometimes
i don't expect to much trouble with the radiator, i also do not drive hard constant in hot wheater because it's not that ideal for the engine.
but i'm planning to get another heat sensor that the radiator fans will react quicker and start to work on lower water temp.
just to be sure.
as for the rest, i know that the seat intercooler can flow perfect to 350Hp.
i have know serveral people with this intercooler on Ibiza's 20VT's and it's allready proven that that intercooler works great on 1.8T petrol engines.
so i don't expect any problems with it.
if it does, i will keep you guys informed
someone needs to price the intercooler in australia before we look further into this.
Looking at the UK-Polo's forum, the Forge kit cost in excess of 400 pounds (response to Rosonic's question)
If this does not include the intercooler (well, even if it does), by the time both parts are landed, its just not cost effective (and likely overkill unless you're looking at something bigger than a K04 turbo upgrade).
