Seat Cupra manifold for the GTI

I was just looking at some pics of the Seat Cupra, correct me if im wrong, but it looks like the engine is built on the same design as the Polo GTI. I dont know which Cupra it is because im not familiar with the various Seat models.

The interesting thing about these cars is that the entry to the intake manifold is on the otherside of the engine (passenger side, for us Aussies).
This means you can have a front mount cooler that has the entry and exit on opposite ends. Unlike the APR version where the entry and exit pipes to the cooler is on the same side of the car.

    The question is:
Can these intake manifolds be fitted to a Polo GTI as a bolt on?

The Cupra bits you have pictured are for the 210 - 225 hp Cupra with dual side mount intercoolers (hence the plumbing goes from right to left) -

Sure you could attach some of it but since the polo's (150hp) has a much smaller turbo fitted, I think the volume increase (bigger pipes & much more of them) would defeat any gains you may get.

If you run a bigger turbo, a left to right flow front mount intercooler (with small piping size) and all the extra Cupra hoses (custom fabrication for the one to the turbo) - you may see some gains - but the cost would be pretty $$$$

So, a APR chipped Polo without a larger turbo would not benefit much from the Seat intake manifold. But if you were to fit a larger turbo (maybe K04) it may be a worthwhile upgrade.

Guy, by your comments I am assuming that the Seat manifold bolts up to the Polo engine block. Other attachments would also need extending as the throttle would be on the other side of the engine bay.

The intercooler plumbing I could get done cheap by a mate. The only cost for me would be the actual manifold and maybe a intercooler (depending if my mate is willing to do that for me also). If you shop around you may even be able to get a 2nd hand Seat manifold.

I wouldnt bother - remember - its designed for a car putting out 225hp in completely stock form (and 260kw chipped) - so without all the supporting stuff that makes it a 225hp car it would more than likely have a negative effect.

Plus the throttle body is a different size, so I don't know if that would work & if you bolted the polo one on (smaller) - you may lose any advantage you had.

Better money spent on a good front mount intercooler - dropping your intake temps by 15 degrees makes a much bigger difference to a poor polo!
