Scratched polo gti after dealership service.

So pissed off and absolutely fuming when I got home after the service! I was hosing down the car to wash it and found a deep scratch on lower corner of right side of front bumper and scratch and chipped paint on left rear wheel on spoke next to the tyre air valve.

Don't know about you guys but it seems to nearly always happen to me. Everytime I take my car to service, I end up taking several more trips back and forth to get issues caused by them to be rectified.

This is the reason why I do most of the servicing myself. It works out cheaper, don't have to travel back and forth, car remains in same condition as prior to the service (or even better) and save time and frustration.

Has anyone else had similar problems with dealerships after getting their car serviced??? Anyway, despite them completely denying it, I finally got them to agree to get the scratched fixed. So hopefully, I'll get a call from them regarding arrangements tomorrow as promised.

Sorry about the long thread, just had to ventilate away my frustration.

    Mate, welcome to the forum...

You don't have to deal with that crap. I had very poor dealings with My dealer(Penrith VW, but thats not there real name, but thats where they are...). I my dealings were all good up until the day I told them I was going to go with Salary Sacrifice finance packaging instead of their own finance, and then I didn't get the wheels I wanted on the car after I had paid for them, and then I has to wait 2 months before I got the money for them...
Luckily I kept a Record Of Conversation of all my dealings with them, and this proved very handy. I caught their lies with the proof I had, and then threatened to go to VW Australia with the evidence that i had against them.

My suggestion to you is to write a letter of complaint with name, timings, and if possible, photos, to Vw Australia outlining the problems you have had, and any ongoing problems with the dealer you went through.

    Happens to me as well...

But i think it is too late, coz u r out of their doors already....

I have also notice some technician from the dealer go up and down ramp with speeds, hence scratching the car's body kit or under car...

I live around one of the dealership and see that all the time...

Gti Dave, what area are you from or better question is what area is the dealership in which whom you have problems with?

No need to give their full name just a suburb or part of town they are from.

When i was at Porsche the customer had to donate a little bit of his time to do a body inspection with us before we carried out repairs to their vehicle. Look stuff happens and scratches and dents are sometimes unavoidable, and if you are a tech you would have seen many in your time , However thats not to say its ok, look if it happens do the right thing, dealers are well covered for this and should be upfront. Im sure you were more pissed off about that than the actual thing itself. Crap service by the sounds

mate, i understand your complete frustration. similar things have happened to me in the past, but it has taken up a lot of my time and energy to deal with morons like that. unfortunately it's just a part of life that some people will never respect others' property. good luck with getting it fixed.

what you need to do is a visual inspection before the service with the manager and after to identify any damage before you drive it away.
know its a pain to do but can save the argument later as to when it was done.
i have used this process for years and had successfully got damage repairs done without all the bs about who did it.
    good luck with the fix.

Hi guys, thanks for everyones support and understanding. I did finally get them to agree to get it fixed and they have asked me to take the car down the road to one of their preferred shops to get it quoted and fixed. I still have yet get it fixed but hope things go well from there. I did suggest to them that they need to inspect every car prior to and after servicing to ensure no scratches/damage is done to customer vehicles and their reply I quote was "that would take up too much time and may not be feasible". The dealer is in Essendon so even though I'm not saying the exact dealer name but its kinda obvious which one it would be. Apart from that, I still haven't heard from the sales lady about the loyalty discount card so guess I'll have to go there directly when I get my car fixed to get that off them too. Once again service is crap and they never seem to call you back on time or ever. Anyway, after I get it fixed I'm taking it to another dealer. Any recommendations? I'm located in Victoria.
    Thanks guys...
