Tyres are too big
If they're factory fitted they should be making sure they put the right size tyres on it. Take it back.
The guys on here should be able to tell you what size 17"s fit.
Hi
I picked up my new Polo GTI last night and I've had the 17" Exor STP wheels put on. They've got 225/45 R 17 Michelin Pilot Preceda PP2s on them.
Whenever I corner a little hard or hit a rolling bump I hear this scraping noise. I've only noticed it when I had a passenger, but I had the music on when I was by myself.
Could this be because the tyres are too big? They were factory fitted though
I can't see any evidence that they are scraping (as in no scuff marks on wheel arch or anything.
Any suggestions about what I should do?

Lol dealers are useless. The tyres are too big.
You need 205/40/17 or 215/40/17. Take it back.
205/40/17 are as close as you'll get to the same rolling diameter as the stock 16' wheel/tyre. The speedo will be out by .04% or something like that.
They'll be scraping on the inside, against the struts most likely.
^^what Flaps said. 215/40 is not all that much different either.
Bloody numbnuts dealer![]()
Thanks guys, I've emailed the dealer, hopefully I can get them changed soon. They have been really good, they had no-name tyres on it to start with and the salesman told them to pull them off then asked my what I wanted (the PP2s), I just didn't specify a size I guess.
Found a good site if anyone is interested.

The guys at BB's garage run a 225/35R17 with no scraping. The lower profile will help but it all depends on the wheel offset. As far a the difference in rolling diameter is concerned a 35 profile on a 17" rim is a closer match to stock than a 40 profile.
They've ordered in the correct size (205/40R17), shall be fitted on Thursday. Pretty easy process really, just needed to choose a time.
