That looks pretty cool Sean. Looks like a tyre shredder. Nothing too deadly to hit so looks like you could go for it too. How'd it steer - car go ok?

oh the pics of those roos in that gallery Andrew posted. We were stopped by roos at one stage for 25 minutes. The guy in that super sedan VL commodore sat on the start line with his V8 in his lap for all that time. I was nearly going to take him some water! No sooner would one group go through but more would keep pouring over the fence at the top like a walking dead herd. We were thinking the club could value add the spectator experience by building a sniper nest and they could charge $ for a few shots. A guy in an EVO had one run right past him on his lap.

Yeh, that wheel's a long way off the deck! Looks like the rear wheel is still well up in the arch, gotta be either rear roll stiffness or lack of droop? Obviously didn't hurt you much though.

Yes, but good B series are getting hard to get, they haven't been in Honda's since 2000. Plus K series can go to 2.7 litres easily, there's a few drag engines that make over 500 bhp naturally aspirated (AKA all motor). It's about a 25 kgs swap left to right, with a B series they are ~12 kgs heavier on the LHS, with a K series about ~12 kgs heavier on the RHS (no driver of course). So it's not a big deal weight wise. The big advantage of the K series is the gearbox is 6 speeds, so we run 123456 at Eastern Creek and 12345 at Wakefield. With the 5 speed B series we have to change the diff ratios, so that alone is worth the K swap.

Didn't realise I was still picking up inside rears that high. Could be going back to the stock front bar maybe or just not enough rear droop? May not be a problem as I really was hurling it through the chicane entry if that's where this pic was taken, and it could even be at the tight left you take over that hump to come onto the main part of the track out of those start area Twisties which really would get the inside rear in the air. It was gripping at the front under power really well though, better than the harder front bar I'd say.
And 215 medium fronts and 195 soft rears is pure glory on a tight track - handled Sooo well.
Perfect, inside rear wheel up at the apex

Yeah they do mark the apex's (is that a word?) with the white posts there so that pic is he apex for sure. The left hander with the hump onto the main track puts you right out to the other side of the road so this has to be the chicane entry. Actually it couldnt be a droop issue cos it will droop a lot more than that when both rears are in the air. With one wheel grounded though that could only be due to rear roll stiffness. No wonder why the tail was lively through there only running on an outside rear that has 1.2mm toe out!
Wish I'd filmed the runs but didn't want to bother myself with all that in the queue when I was playing catch up.

That was an awesome last lap. I’m sure it would’ve opened the eyes of a number of guys with a few more cylinders and $$$s under their bonnets!

Was great to meet you and check out the car. Very jealous of the seat and harness setup!

Ha ha cool. Yeah it was good to catch up. Wasn't sure if you were still there at that stage. If you think you might want to duck across to Dapto for the Huntley round in September let me know cos I'll probably go to that one if Bathurst falls through. Don't forget Dub Nats is on 25th May at eastern ck on the south circuit if you want to have a run with other VW hatches! Oh yeah I'm loving the seat too - the first time I sat back in the stock seat after putting it in on Monday morning it felt like I was sinking into a bean bag in comparison.

The car set-up was pretty darn good actually. Over steer on cold tyres, but after a session or two was pretty neutral. I think I was 8 or 9th fastest of the 33 cars, probably the fastest on a street tyre, but definitely the fastest with a baby seat, haha. Main challenge was maintaining corner speed/revs to ensure it was on boost on exit. Generally, if I was on the pace I was fine, but any tighter (or some poor driving) and it'd be a slow exit. Had to focus on smoothness in a few corners and could chuck it at others.

    Will certainly do it again.
