yeah, licenses are well under control... 6 hour drive each way on a school night? nah... maybe one day... we have a nice little track at DECA locally, but they have a 5pm noise cutoff

Damn those vids look like fun! Layout looks tighter from inside the car than I had anticipated, might be a bit wild in the Vette... It's actually not that dissimilar in some ways to doing the tar khanacross at Ringwood, though obviously you've got a couple of sections there with a much higher top speed. Is it run like a hillclimb/supersprint, where your best time is all that matters, or like a khanacross/rally where every run matters/adds up to a total time?

You get 5 runs of the course based on the timecards which dictate when you have to arrive at time control. All your runs count - they average them. I'm in 2WD 3-4L and you'd be in over 4L. The only parts of the course that changes event to event is the bollard lined 'esses' that lead into the corner after which you over the crest and down the access road, and also the wider chicanes coming down the drag strip. The esses are the hardest bit to get right because its very hard at night to get your depth perception right - the spotties that helped you down the back now dazzle you at short range and you are reacting to what appears very rapidly right in front of you because you can't see through the corners. The access road is the quickest (4th gear for a sec) and is narrow and bumpy making it feel real quick. Its awesome fun.

Tilt your head to the left and that's what it looks like inside the inlet to the airbox. The inlet pipe flange has been flared and contoured to fit the inside of the stormwater pipe which itself is a bit flared. The convoluted tube fits into that.
    thanks for that

No worries mate. The finished product is a tight fit against all the pipe work on the side of the head. It needs to be so that the pipe you run through to it from the front of the car can get between there and the battery case.

Spent bits of time today fitting the new battery up to a tray that I'd roughed out that needed some finishing touches and deciding on amd bending up the hold down clamp etc. Battery is a Full River HC20 that's going to be fitted as pictured lying on its side down low sort of underneath where the OEM airbox is. The shape of the tray will make more sense once its fitted but its going to be bolted at the front of the tray to the two posts coming up off the gearbox mount and at the top to a point just below the ABS module/assembly.
Once that's in i'll have to switch over to a pod style filter that'll eventually either draw air from a partition at the front of the engine bay where the battery used to be or perhaps through the factory airbox again if it can be modified to fit. dunno about that bit yet.

anyone know an online australian store where I can buy proper velocity stacks, not the silly long radius donut things but the traditional long un flanged bellmouth stacks. I need a 3in one that'll fit inside a pod.

Picked up the 6R Polo steering rack bush today. It looks to be identical in dimensions to the OE rubber 9N3 one and fits perfectly onto the rack. I'll bolt it to a crossmember before I can be 100% but I'd hazard a guess its the one. Not sure if that was common knowledge or not ( it wasn't to me) but I'm stoked I can hopefully take a bit of sog out of the steering.

a mech/tuner mate put me onto this aussie site Home
They have some pretty cool stuff. These are their airboxes that look the goods definitely for the asking price, and nice looking rampod bases.
