Mate, I think you should post that on the rexnet forum. I'm sure that topic would get closed much quicker than the Polo one. Still it would be a good laugh while it lasted.

    Thumbs up

Well.... a Tiguan with the 147 engine is quite quick.
    Will it beat a WRX?

    'fraid not! Sorry.

    The Tiguan is a 4WD. That's it.

To be precise, the tiguan is actually an AWD Mini-SUV
With a chip and a few more upgrades i think it would match a WRX.

    Exclamation

Team V, I hear you but if you need to put a chip into a Tig to beat the WRX, then you also need to put a chip into the WRX to be fair. Where does that leave your theory?
I don't want to slam the Tiguan, hell I'm getting one. But I'm not going to go as far as saying it can beat a WRX.

To be fair you would have to chip the WRX.

However one is a rally bred street car and one is a mini-suv/family car so they are never going to be on the same grounding.
The only real similarity is the engine size.

The Tig however provides most of the qualities of a WRX, however, it adds practicality where the WRX adds rally-bred abilities.

Beat a WRX ???? Not what I said, I said LIKE A WRX ..... and a Tiguan is no 4WD sorry. Its basically an AWD hatch ....... even the boot is about the size of a Polo GTI's boot .....

And incidentally a chipped only Tiguan (manual) makes 190kw/400NM and costs a lot less than $40K which is far less than a stock WRX anyway(and a Golf GTI) ..... and probably quicker in a straight line ...... but thats not the point here ....

This was meant as "when you are ready to upgrade from a Polo GTI, then a chipped Tiguan makes a lot of sense as it is the cheapest way to get a VAG product with AWD and the 2.0T GTI engine ......" the next closest VAG prodct with the same drivetrain is the A3 quattro @ $55K ......

A bit more info here ...

stock Polo GTI 0-100km/h = 8.2s (VW figures)
    stock Tiguan 125TSI manual 0-100km/h = 8.2s (VW figures)
so power to weight disadvantage is offset by traction advantage.

Add a chip (only a chip)
    Polo GTI = about 150kw = 40kw extra
    Tiguan = 190kw = 65kw extra
so power to weight disadvantage lessens
traction advantage to the Tiguan still exists .... in fact with more power a Polo is far less able to use the extra power whereas a Tiguan still is not approaching its traction limits ... guess which 1 will be quicker .....

yeah i once weighed up ther whole family aspect , guess vw won out lol

the only bad thing ive heard about the tiggers is the low ground clearance and the engine (im talking the 2.0lt turbo diesel) not ballsy enough to get through some situations , i havnt test driven one but i think its kinda unlikly for the dealership to let me take one to fraser island for a spin
